Killzone 3 beta theme goes live tomorrow

Plus, free Fallout 3 DLC for PS Plus users.

The theme you'll need to download to gain access to the Killzone 3 beta will go live in the PlayStation Store on Wednesday at 8pm UK time, Sony has announced.

According to the European PlayStation blog, the first 10,000 Plus subscribers to download it will win a place on the beta.

The PlayStation Plus update also reveals that all five Fallout 3 add-on packs will be available to Plus members for free, for one week only.

You can get Point Lookout, Mothership Zeta and Operation: Anchorage from 13th October. Broken Steel and The Pitt follow on 20th October.

Plus users can also get their hands on an exclusive new Split/Second multiplayer demo when the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow.

Gotta say, Plus is turning into a great deal. Free Little Big Planet, Street Fighter II HD, Sam and Max and now Fallout DLC.

I genuinely struggle to believe there are 10,000 Plus subscribers.

EDIT: Well there's 5 of them. Where's the other 9,995?

    then you are retarded randompanda.

    8pm, the race is on.

Hmm. I struggled to see the value of Plus, but now I realise it is an insidious way for Sony to separate the rich from the poor! Saying that, Microsoft have been doing it for years... If they made Plus a bit cheaper I'd get it, cos it's starting to look good, but until then I'll play Halo Reach and faggedabatit.

Yeah, randompanda. There's probably 38 million PSN Plus subscribers...

"Hey everyone! PS Plus discriminates against the poor!"

riceNpea - I'm looking at my copy of the Oxford English Dictionary right here and under retarded it actually says "Someone who pays a yearly membership for a free service"

How strange! You must have gotten confused.

8 PM in the UK will be 2 PM here in Chicago, and between 12 PM to 3 PM across the US. So I guess the first 10000 Plus subscribers to access the Mature-rated Killzone 3 beta (via the downloaded theme) will be teenagers?

hilarious randompanda. it was so funny you had to edit it.

We all make mistakes - mine was forgetting to address my post to you.

Yours was paying a yearly fee to play a game I picked up recently for £3. Great value ahoy.
  • riceNpea #11 2 years ago

oh don't say that. i'm 'genuinely' upset
  • randompanda #12 2 years ago

    Let's hug and make up.

Is it not wrong to think that maybe the money would have been better spent on buying some games instead?
  • riceNpea #13 2 years ago

i dont see it as being wasted. it was a choice

I'm a Plus subscriber, but I don't really feel that I've gotten a whole lot out of it yet. They have had some pretty good offers - including various full games and now the Fallout 3 DLC - but the problem is, ironically enough, that a fair part of it is popular content that many of the "core" gamers are likely to have already bought and played many months ago.

That has certainly been the case for me with nearly all of the major free PS+ game releases, and it's also the case with the Fallout 3 DLC (PC rather than PS3 version in that case, but that's irrelevant of course).

The potentially most interesting offer on PS+ for me so far has been the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood MP beta - but sadly that turned out to be sorely disappointing.

That is actually quite awesome to give out the Fallout 3 DLC. And it really is up to the person spending money to think if he got value out of it.
  • makeamazing #17 2 years ago

If you have purchased the DLC then of course it wont seem like value for money, but if you havent and was going to at some point, then its great.

The only thing that is sad for users that it is only a week... hopefully people who are on plus are keeping track of the offers and can get it if they want it.

I thought the theme was being released on the 19th?
  • Lunastra78 #19 2 years ago

Alright, get in formations men! As you know I expect you all to test the game thoroughly before I shall have the pleasure of playing it myself, next year. This of course extends into running into walls whilst changing weapons and simultaneously crouching everywhere on the maps, jumping on all barrels whilst flinging grenades and all other such mundane testing tasks just to make sure everything works perfectly come 2011. I also expect you to put in at least 30-40 hours every week and to write a formal letter of test results at the end of each week. Again, I can not stress enough the importance of this game being 100% bug-free by the time I play it.

    Dismissed!

I'm a playstation plus member. I'll be there at 8pm sharp when the playstation store slows to a crawl and freezes due to server overload when the theme gets released.

    Bring it on...
