ME2 360 owners prefer Grunt to Miranda
Must be liz-ard abs.
Xbox 360 gamers preferred team-mate Grunt to team-mate Miranda, although the opposite was true on PC, BioWare has revealed.
"On the PC, people did Miranda's loyalty mission quite a bit, which is where she is trying to connect with her sister and it's more of a touchy-feely plot," exec producer Casey Hudson told IGN. "Not a lot of Xbox 360 players did that one. But the Xbox 360 players did do Grunt's mission a lot more than PC players."
BioWare noted that Xbox 360 owners did 10 per cent more loyalty missions than PC players.
The average time taken to finish Mass Effect 2 was recorded as 33 hours, although two people managed to clock 66 hours before finishing. PC owners took an hour longer than their console counterparts to wade through.
The most number of playthroughs was 28, which was achieved by two PC gamers. Four Xbox 360 owners completed the game 23 times. Pathetic.
By far the most played Mass Effect 2 class was the Soldier, which was picked more than any other class combined. The least popular class was the Engineer.
Only 20 per cent chose to be a female Shepard (including me), and 80 per cent tinkered with their hero's face before the game got underway. From there, half that started the game saw it through, and a further 50 per cent imported saved games from Mass Effect 1.
Finally, only 15 per cent of conversations were skipped.

47 hrs on my playthru!

And I did every mission possible...that marathon 10 hour session to finish the game from 25-35 hours I did one night is actually one of my favourite gaming experiences. Absolute masterpiece of a game.

" The most number of playthroughs was 28 "
33 x 28 = 924
924 / 24 = 38.5
More than a month of solid playing. Wonder how much of that time was spent on the shitty planet scanning minigame.

I'm guessing once you've completed it 28 times, you're running well under the average time though

I've still not completed it once, though, and here are some nutters who've done it 28 times!

Me, I went with female Shepard, because her voice is awesome.

"Me, I went with female Shepard, because her voice is awesome."
She is indeed awesome.

Is that so unlikely, given it is an alien race we are talking about?
Anyway, the "original" reapers might not have been the actual true form of the reapers, they could have just been reapers based on alien squid DNA. There was nothing to say what was depicted hadn't happened before.

This is the link to the IGN story. Pretty sad only 50% of the people who started the game got to finish it. Curiously, 50% of the people imported a ME save. That means that, not being too thorough, than half the people who played ME2 came from ME (and likely finished it) and the other half just bought if from hype and never got to finish it...
Edit: Depressing fact, 50% played as soldier class. It's the only class I've never played with... it's a RPG, for god's sake, not Gears of War.

Either way a 50% completion rate for a game that takes 33hrs is pretty good. I wonder what the percentages of Call of Duty, Gears of War, God of War etc. are.

I agree with your sentiment there. I thought the default male Shepard looked far too much like a 20 year old American jock, and didn't fit the back story at all. I made mine all ugly-rific, and he looked like a serious badass.

Mine too. Looked late 40s early 50s, shaved head, thin eyes. As if you crossed Jean Luc Picard with the General blokey out of Avatar. Somebody who could save the universe without needing a packed lunch and knee pads.

Beat the game twice, first time was on normal and I did everything, clocked in at about 40 hours. Second playthrough was on insanity and I did just what I needed to beat the game in order to get the last achievment. Normal was too easy, Insanity was too cheap and exposed the game mechanics a bit. I'd say for a single playthrough go for Hardcore.

That's actually a lot. You should look at the global achievement stats on Steam of various games, even great games get shockingly low "finished" percentages.
Depressing fact, 50% played as soldier class. It's the only class I've never played with... it's a RPG, for god's sake, not Gears of War.
Don't know about you, but I was controlling a party in the game. It's not Star Wars: Force Unleashed, after all.

Give me a woman with a real personality, not just a pair of boobs, anyday. Her loyalty mission was about the only point at which I had any interest in her, and even then I had to kick her into behaving like a real human being.

Now I'm playing a Paragon/Renegade male soldier Shepard on Insanity without a ME1 save and all the added DLC. Personally, I miss all the characters I met in ME1 that are not included in my game this time.

It's a sad thing to admit, but you're right :/ Console gamers get Lara, Bayonetta, Zelda, Dante's chick...

That stat is going to drop dramatically when us PS3 gits are going to mess the party up. Unless, of course... Naah.

I think the creepiest thing is how Bioware know all this stuff about how we play the game! The internet is watching us. Aggh!

It was the most balanced of the classes, as a soldier I could deal with ANY situation. I didn't see the need to cripple my versatility for the sake of jedi powers. That's me though.

Did it in about 30 hours. Enjoyed the OCD mining as well - you always know that your hard work will get you an extra advantage.
I'm 45 - I've learned that the harder you work, the easier it gets

As to the Grunt vs Miranda... As I was a pretty powerful biotic I'd usually have Garus with Grunt/Tally or in my party depending on the mission.

When I'm on missions I tend to take Tali and Grunt. Grunt and Thane on the end mission.

And yeah, everyone who is shocked by the low completion percentage- I'm actually shocked it was that high, for such a long game. 30-40 hours is more than most people are prepared to put into a game, even one as great as ME2. Which puts pressure on developers to make their games shorter.
Man I love ME2, such a great game.
Comment below viewing threshold Show
In terms of time spent to complete the game? Well if Bioware had given some bastard indication as to how many bastard planets I needed to bastard scan then I wouldn't have driven myself into a stupour and gotten rsi wasting hours on resources that were never necessary once the upgrades to the ship were complete. Bastards. Drop that for ME3 please!
