Homefront PC developer named

THQ gets loose lips.

THQ has revealed the Homefront PC developer as Digital Extremes.

That studio most recently delivered 2008's decent shooter Dark Sector. Before that, Pariah and Warpath. Digital Extremes also made BioShock for PS3 and the multiplayer part of BioShock 2.

Kaos Studios, creator of Frontlines: Fuel of War, is making the console versions of Homefront.

Homefront is THQ's thinly veiled attempt at establishing a Call of Duty-like IP. We took a good look in June.

Homefront is due out in February 2011.

Homefront should epitomise THQ's new quality over quantity approach.

Wait, when you say "developer" do you mean porter? As in, are Digital Extremes just porting the game to PC, or are they making a completely different game?

If it's the first one, great, well done. If it's the second one, then F*** YOU THQ.

I fucking loved Dark Sector. For a 6 quid steam game it really is a bargain. DE really deserved some credit for that one. But then they also deserved credit for the fun as hell Pariah MP but nooooooooo. Nobody else thought so. DE are a worthy developer and it's good to see they are being given more room to shine.

Considering they managed to take a brilliant game (Bioshock 2) and completely screw up the multiplayer (even the graphics looked shoddy compared to the single player), that's not very encouraging.

Bioshock 2 multiplayer feels like it's running on Bioshock 1 tech rather than Bioshock 2 tech. It's really rather silly to be honest.

Digital Extremes seem to have 'co-developed' a lot of games. Some are great titles, but it seems to me that they're not a great stand-alone dev.
