Dark Athena delayed to 2008

You lot to blame.

Sierra Entertainment has pushed back the release of The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Athena to 2008.

It was previously expected before the end of the year, but was taken back to the drawing board because of feedback from the community.

"When we announced the product, we received and read an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the gaming community," a spokesperson from Sierra told Eurogamer. "We are looking at everything and are eager to reveal exciting new details in the coming months."

Dark Athena was announced in late May as a remake of Escape from Butcher Bay for PS3 and Xbox 360, but soon fell under fire for not offering enough new content to go with the flashy revamped graphics.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay first appeared on Xbox in 2004. It was a movie tie-in from The Darkness developer Starbreeze, and took nearly everyone pleasantly by surprise - not least because the big-screen version starring Vin Diesel was rubbish.
