Standalone GH3 guitars dated

Should be early 08 for all.

Activision has said that stocks of standalone wireless guitars for Guitar Hero III will be made available across the US in "early 2008".

Activision UK couldn't comment directly on when we would see those here, but the publisher's US and UK timetables are usually fairly similar.

At the moment, the only way to get one of the new wireless guitars for any format is to buy it as a bundle with the game - a bit like the situation frustrating US consumers of EA's new Rock Band competitor.

However, unlike Rock Band, Guitar Hero III certainly is compatible with past Xbox 360 and PS2 controllers for those versions.

Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii versions of GH3 are based on Gibson's Les Paul shape, while PS2 owners get to pick up the Gibson Kramer. They all have detachable faceplates too - a bit like mobile phone ones, except sort of defensible.
