Sony can track Geohot website users

Twitter, Google, YouTube subpoenaed.

Sony is allowed to access George "Geohot" Hotz's website to obtain the IPs of all who visited the notorious PS3 Jailbreaker's website.

Magistrate Joseph Spero gave the nod, also handing Sony the keys to YouTube, Google and Twitter, Wired reports.

The court-approved subpoena on the Geohot.com website requires host Bluehost turn over "documents reproducing all server logs, IP address logs, account information, account access records and application or registration forms".

The Google subpoena hands over the logs to George Hotz's blog, geohotps.3.blogspot.com.

The YouTube subpoena regards the 'Jailbroken PS3 3.55 with Homebrew' video and all who watched it, granting access to "documents reproducing all records or usernames and IP addresses that have posted or published comments in response to the video".

Finally, the Twitter subpoena demands full disclosure of all George Hotz's tweets, and "documents sufficient to identify all names, addresses, and telephone numbers associated with the Twitter account".

In February, a court denied Sony's attempt to subpoena these same internet titans.

Sony has begun suspending or banning PSN accounts suspected of jailbreaking their PS3 console, which allows homebrew software and, more importantly, pirated games to run on the machine.
