Buy Battlefield 2 add-on online

Pre-download for $29.99.

Electronic Arts has announced that new expansion pack Battlefield 2: Special Forces is now available to buy and download via the EA website.

All you have to do is install the new EA Downloader, hand over $29.99 (that's just over 17 quid in the old money) and off you go. It's just like Valve's Steam service, basically.

Only thing is you can't actually play the expansion until 1pm EST (that's 6pm in the, er, old time) on November 22 - but at least it'll be all ready for action when that moment rolls around.

Battlefield 2: Special Forces features "the latest, most technologically advanced vehicles and weapons systems available to man," according to EA. You can choose to play for any one of six Special Forces teams - Navy SEALs, Russian Spetznas, MEC Special Forces, rebel groups, insurgents or the good old SAS. There are ten new vehicles, too.

If you like the sound of it but are frightened by technology, don't panic - Battlefield 2: Special Forces will soon be available in actual shops, too.
