Former Medal of Honor and Uncharted AI chief Laurent Ancessi has released a new game, KnightScape.

KnightScape is a free fairytale action adventure game for iOS devices (iPhones, iPads and 3GS+ iPods 5.1 and later). It's up on the App Store now.

Ancessi has worked on some of the biggest game franchises throughout his expansive career, including FIFA, Need for Speed and Medal of Honor while at EA, and the first Uncharted game while at Naughty Dog.

At EA he created the AI that powered the squad combat in Medal of Honor: European Assault after a stint at Prototype developer Radical Entertainment.

Now, though, he's going it alone with his own mobile game company, Mojaro, which he founded in 2010. Louis Castle, co-founder of Command & Conquer creator Westwood Studios, is on the board.

KnightScape is the first in a series of games created with Mojaro's proprietary cross-genre mobile gaming platform, also called Mojaro.

“KnightScape is just a game but there's a bigger idea behind it,” Ancessi told Eurogamer. “We plan to unveil the world system probably around February or March next year.

“But if you finish all nine levels of KnightScape and defeat the dragon then there's a surprise. We give you a hint after that battle. We will give more and more hints as we go until we ship the full system.”

This bigger idea is “original,” Ancessi said. “Nobody has done it ever in the video game industry.”
