Chew Man Fu for VC, mobile

Opens Hudson's gates, apparently.

Hudson's releasing aged puzzler Chew Man Fu on Wii's Virtual Console and mobile phones in Europe next month, the company said yesterday.

The game represents the start of a reinventing of Hudson's back catalogue, although details on which other of the publisher's "classics" are going to be brought kicking and screaming into the 21st Century are unknown just yet.

"Chew Man Fu represents an era of gameplay during which Hudson established itself as a creator of fun games that were easy to pick up and play, and also appealed to a wide range of gamers," said Hudson boss John Greiner. "With such a fantastic catalog of games released over the last 30 years, Hudson is in a great position to bring back some of these classics to a whole new generation of gamers."

Chew Man Fu - released on the Japanese Virtual Console last week - sees the player fighting a curse laid on the Egg Roll Kingdom by the eponymous villain, by rolling coloured balls into holes while smashing walls and dodging enemies. Man Fu's hex has robbed the world of egg rolls, fried rice, and other Chinese takeaway foods, meaning the game's content is in no way suspect in the modern world. It's the gaming equivalent of your granddad at a wedding, essentially.

Anyway. Keep your chopsticks handy and grab the game next month. Are we allowed to say that?
