Patrice Désilets reveals footage from 1666 Amsterdam

The unfinished game he wanted to make after Assassin's Creed.

Assassin's Creed co-creator Patrice Désilets has revealed footage from his unfinished project 1666 Amsterdam after recently acquiring the rights to the game from Ubisoft.

YouTuber Brandon Sheffield captured this offscreen footage from Désilets' presentation at the Reboot Develop Conference in Croatia. According to Sheffield, this footage is from two years ago when the game was in development for PS3 and Xbox 360. Had development continued, it would have migrated to PS4 and Xbox One.

Apparently 1666's theme was "be worse than the devil," explaining why players can control animals typically associated with satanic rituals like ravens, rats and black cats.

Désilets previously trumped up 1666 Amsterdam as the "new Assassin's Creed". It certainly looks similar with its historical European setting and focus on stylish assassinations.

The title was initially in development at THQ Montreal, where Désilets worked at the time, before the developer and IP moved to Ubisoft - though the company quickly shuttered development on the game.

These days Désilets is working on the third-person action/adventure Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey at Panache Digital Games, the studio he recently founded.
