Escape Dead Island launches 21st November 2014 in Europe and 18th November in North America, publisher Deep Silver has announced.

The third-person, single-player survival mystery spin-off delves into the origins of the zombie outbreak that sparked the events of the first Dead Island game.

It's developed by Swedish studio Fatshark (War of the Roses), and is set for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

If you pre-order and then buy Escape Dead Island you get guaranteed access to the Dead Island 2 beta, Deep Silver said. Dead Island 2 is in development at Yager (Spec Ops: The Line) and is due out on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in spring 2015.
