Metro: Last Light to come bundled with prototype Steam Machines

Designed to showcase SteamOS and Steam Controller.

Imagine playing a first-person shooter with this.

Horror shooter Metro: Last Light will come bundled with the 300 prototype Steam Machines Valve plans to send into the wild for testing, Deep Silver has announced.

The Linux version of the game is out now, and developer 4A Games is working on support for SteamOS and the Steam Controller.

Valve will send a Steam Machine prototype to 300 members of the Steam community, and they'll find a copy of Metro: Last Light included with the hardware.

"We are excited by the prospect of bringing the ultimate Metro experience, powered by next-gen PC hardware into the living room," said 4A Games chief technology officer Oles Shishkovstov.

"Metro: Last Light will be a great showcase for SteamOS and the Steam Controller."

Valve is working with multiple partners to bring a variety of Steam gaming machines to market during 2014, all of them running SteamOS.

While they're being developed, Valve will ship just 300 high-performance prototypes optimised for gaming and Steam to Steam users, free of charge, for testing. According to the company: "A small number of users (30 or less) will be chosen based on their past community contributions and beta participation. The remainder will be chosen at random from the eligible pool."
