Tabula Rasa is in it's early days. I think it's got massive potential, not quite there yet but I'd say give it time. I doubt this'll go the way of Vanguard.

If I play a game, and I don't find it interesting, why should I play it further? Sure, if a friend had told me that it gets better, I might push on to try to find something more fun.
But when someone's game playing time is limited, you end up judging books by their covers. If the first few hours don't seem promising, I usually give up. Sure there are some "false positives," but if the game designers can't make the start interesting, that says a bit about the game design quality as a whole, in my opinion.
