Saturn's version was pretty good, so was the original arcade. I don't have the time to squeeze this into my limited time (yeah... FF13 and its "hunts";), and I have Zeno.
    Maybe later.

Certainly an upgrade but not by much, grabed anyway as I enjoyed the PC version I had and this is as good excuse as any to grab a console version.

Looks and sounds exactly like how I remember it on Playstation. Which is good enough for me.
    Great game, instant buy.

I actually liked this game on the PS1 back in the day but this update just looks sterile and without character.

The explosions on the original looked great for the time and these look to have been grabbed from the explosions library at Taito.

The effort put into this seems minimal.

If you're going to do something like this in 3D, then make a more dynamic camera, for instance one that keeps you and what is being tracked/followed into the screen together. That and some proper lighting and framebuffer effects would do absolute wonders for this game, at least graphically. ;)

    Excellent game in its hey-day!
Must've finished it hundreds of times...

Anyone else remembers the beautiful end-credits theme?

Raystorm on the PS1 at the time was a classic and its one of my fave shoot em ups but its aged pretty badly now, basic gameplay and music is still ace but the polygonal graphics have dated horribly. I was quite excited about teh HD remake and it does look nice now BUT..........they have zoomed the original 4:3 image and stretched it slightly to fit the 16:9 ration for HD TVs. As a result the game feels cramped and 20% of the screen is missing. Look at teh level 1 boss tank when it drives off you can't see it etc and when it becomes stationary its top is slightly cut off. As there is no original 4:3 ratio option you get a pretty 16:9 ration bodged port and for 1200 points the price is a bit steep.

Anyone have ANY idea why this isn't available in Germany?

Sigh. The Dark Side of Digital Distribution rears its ugly head again…

Can't wait for this but already own the game from the Jap PSN store. However when I saw this first I thought it would be Layer Section HD with new HD 2D graphics. Now that I woud buy!

Also miiiguel the Saturn version was a bit poo with loads of slowdown and crappy dithering. The PS1 version was way better.

Will probably buy as long as it's not at an utter ripoff price. A very disappointing amount of shmups in the PS3 store!
