    Civ must surely be the most loved series in gaming history.

    Who's the woman speaking at the end? Sounds familiar.

    Why do they show the walls of Constantinople in tact in the glory and greatness segment and then show minarets around the Agia Sophia Church.. When the Ottomans took the City and erected those minarets turning the Church into a Mosque the walls of Constantinople were greatly damaged... also the commentary talks of raising an obscure City (Byzantium) to glory and greatness.. this was turning it into Constantinople founded by Emperor Justinian the 1st Christian Emperor.. the segement obviously shows the city as Istanbul because of the minarets and as such the voiceover is probably of a ottoman sultan.. thus he did not turn an obscure city into greatness it was already great.. hugely historically inaccurate ... shame.. though the guys who make Civ had brains and like historical accuracy

    I'll get the game if they fix the ability of a few units of spearmen to take out tanks. Just seems silly.

    It sounds like the voice at the end of Gears Of War 1.

    I just know I wont be able to stop myself picking up this game. I love civ but I was a little disappointed in 4. That said I still loved it and have played it many many times. On low difficulty cos I suck

    My girlfriend doesnt like the way tanks can be killed by spearmen either.

    @Gerryad

    Sorry mate but if you are gonna be anal about history, brush up on your spelling and grammar first.
  • Felwyn #9 2 years ago

    regardless of his spelling and grammar he's still right but we shouldn't take civilisation games as substitutes for history lessons. Sid is, after all, American. . .

    Gerryad isn't right - Civ isn't a history lesson, it's showing that in any particular game of Civ this is how things could turn out. Hence the German voice-over on the scene of Chinese warriors.
