Oh man... This is going to be TOO good!

    Hmmmm ...

... reminds me of Alpha Protocol (which I enjoyed!), but I am concerned about it a little more after that trailer. Where are RPG / Story trappings? Trailers have focussed on the combat / stealth etc. and not on the story. I will wait for the review before purchasing, though my fingers are crossed!

(Also silencers and crossbows are not USPs for your franchise - and neither is saying 'my new game' doesn't behave like 90s Wolfenstein, compare it to current genre classics not something from the darker ages of gaming.)

So let me get this straight. I should be excited about Deus Ex Human Revolution because:

If I sneak around I can listen in on some conversations that might help me. That's pretty cool, I've never encountered that in a game before.

Enemies can hear my footsteps. Awesome. Glad they mentioned that in the video.

Enemies don't just line up and wait for me to shoot them. Phew, I was worried that the last 15 years of game development hadn't happened and that it would a shooting gallery.

Also I'm glad they've cleared up the question of whether or not it is good to use a silencer when trying to be stealthy. And of course I'm heartened to hear that the crossbow is a quiet weapon and won't be making any banging noises.

And what's that? Deactivating security cameras? Original.

Good to see that it's looking like every stealth game I've played since 1999 with aboslutely no innovation at all.

    Looks quite average to me.

Excited about the game. Now just waiting for the "PC release pushed back" announcement.

Doesn't seem like a bad game but I've seen it all before..
  • andytheadequate #7 10 months ago

This has 7/10 written all over it
  • telboy007 #8 10 months ago

Yeah god forbid we all suddenly forget all the augmentations, the fact we can see targets through walls, the excellent art style, the moody atmosphere, the free reign to go do stuff highlighted in the preview... the list goes on.

Due to the summer drought in video games I'll probably pick this up whereas I wouldn't have done so in say, November.
Echoing what everyone else has said there seems to be little innovation or unique features but I'll reserve my judgement until I play the final product.

The stealth looks pretty solid for an RPG.

These vdieos with the developers are a load of balls. Watching them get excited about things yuo can do in every other game of this type is really depressing for the game in general.

It was the same in the action one.

Cant believe some people are saying this looks average. C'mon its awesome!!!
  • DUFFKING #13 10 months ago

Finding these comments amusing since reading all the people's comments who've played the leak seem to agree it's awesome...

I'm sure this will be a good, polished game. But to be honest, it looks a bit dated (gameplay and graphic-wise). The AI looks like the typical standard. These previews don't work for me because I'd rather let the gameplay footage do the the talking instead of a group of talking heads bigging up their own product...

It may well be, but these videos have been incredibly dull and generic. Hopefully the main game will be a lot better
  • vmanb #16 10 months ago

Does look like a more polished version of alpha protocol which if fine by me
  • Phishfood #17 10 months ago

So far the gameplay elements are comparable to Crysis, not a bad thing but they do need these generic elements in the game so that the masses will buy it. I'm more interested to see how I can talk my way through a mission without ever having to fire a bullet.
  • DefendoCroc #18 10 months ago

The environments look great, the gameplay looks like the same old shit, theres not a sniff of RPG in it. Fail it will!
  • Daeltaja #19 10 months ago

The setting, story, atmosphere, aesthetics and attention to detail are what I'm mainly looking forward to. Ok, so it doesn't innovate, but if it plays solidly then I'll probably love every minute of it. Gameplay wise, it's looks no duller than say, Mass Effect 2.

Looking forward to it :) (Though I do agree, way too many developer videos about simple gameplay mechanics that have existed for decades)

This looks shit. All of the 'features' they are announcing are genre staples, and have been since.... well the original DeusEx. Weapon upgrades, stealth modes and - Lol - 'listening to guards talk... don't go in guns blazing or you disrupt the conversation'? With terrible voice acting to top that off? That was embarrassing to watch. The graphics and animations would be painfully average for a game that came out in 2009.

I'm the opposite of excited. I can see why they kept postponing this game. It's sad to see how far a great IP can fall.
  • Stockings #22 10 months ago

Why does the game only have two colours?
It put me off watching the video never mind buying it.

I'm all for being critical of games and developers, but some of the comments here really do make me wonder why the fuck some people even bother with this hobby if it makes them so unhappy :(
