That first level is horrifically bad though. How the hell did that happen, when the rest of it is Grade A Unadulterated Awesome?

Will it be as awesome as the original was? Probably not. Still hoping it will be pretty good though.
On a side note, stylistically this game reminds me of Metal Gear Solid 2, quite muted colours, and lots of clean lines and smooth textures. Not that it matters, just a personal observation.
