Zeno Clash XBLA delayed

Wacky brawler now due in April.

Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition was supposed to be released today on Xbox Live Arcade. It hasn't been and won't.

"It's been pushed back a tad," wrote developer co-founder Andres Bordeu on the ACE Team forum (thanks, Jack). "Sorry about that to everyone."

"It should come out early April. Atlus will be releasing more info through one of the next press releases.

"Just a little more patience," he added. "It'll be out really soon. As soon as we have new info we'll post it somewhere here."

Zeno Clash: Ultimate Edition adds co-op Tower Challenges and leaderboards to the bonkers openworld fighting game. There are also new attacks, new weapons, a couple of new enemies and a new game mode.

There's still no mention of a price. But the PC version costs £11.24 on Steam, which suggests a 1200 Microsoft Point (£10.20/€14.40) tag on Xbox 360.

That PC version scored 8/10 on Eurogamer with less features and no co-op. Catch-up with our Zeno Clash review to find out why.

Or maybe, since they cost the same, Microsoft decided not to allow Activison to be embarrassed by a small developer.

The PC version was excellent. The great thing about indie games like this is that developers tend to be a little more open to experimenting and taking a few risks because they're not having to consider the massive budget being entrusted to them by the publisher. It feels very much like a game that the developer wanted to make, rather than being bound by an obligation towards the publisher fronting the cash.

It wouldn't surprise me if the extras get added into the PC version at some point in the future. I think the developer themselves said that Microsoft insist on added content with XBLA games rather than straight ports.

I wanted this, but didn't even know it was supposed to hit today, so I don't care.

    Maybe they failed their submission.

Todays XBLA game according to Major Nelson was Mega Man 10. No mention of this.

This is a great game on the PC, and I think it would work even better on a console. Everyone interested in innovative titles should at least check the demo out.
