Zack & Wiki Flash demo

Try it. Then buy it.

Nintendo has cobbled together a Flash demo of Zack & Wiki for you to try.

Adventure over to the official website and go to the "gameplay" tab and select "Play a demo level" to give it a whirl.

It should give you a good idea of the sorts of puzzles you will come across in the full game, although you will be without the motion-sensing controls of the Wii, obviously.

Zack & Wiki is an adventure game from Capcom that we called "far and away the best original IP on the Wii".

Its clever conundrums, sense of humour, gorgeous presentation and well thought-out Wiimote waggling made it a thorough recommendation from us.

Pop over to our Zack & Wiki review to find out more.

Bought at release, it's probably the best use of the Wiimote yet

It's one of the best games on the Wii IMO, a genuine surprise seeing as it isn't by Nintendo.

Tried it. Hate it. No Sale.

Great idea though! Just not my kind of thing at all I'm afraid.

Anybody seen this in the shops at all?

I saw it in Morrisons on day one of release and then couldn't find it anywhere :(

    Great demo btw

Does the demo work in Opera on the Wii? It is definitely a game that benefits from a demo since it's so 'special'. Not everyones cup of but gold for the right person. (such as myself)

They've picked one of the levels where you can't die.

Imagine every time you clicked something that wasn't correct, the level restarted. That's what the game becomes after about half way through.

This, but louder and with swearing.

Played it for a couple of hours until it annoyed me so much, I couldn't any more.

not a really representative demo if you ask me. It gives the impression it's a really static feeling game. You can't even move around in the demo.

It's great up until the last two levels...

the wonky sword fighting bits, and death round every corner - grr!

i want the game but that flash demo was crap.

Its a nice idea to begin with and probably is the best use of the wiimote beyond wii sports. However it never really engaged me and other than the hilarious sawing introduction (sure it must be on youtube) I found myself wondering why I was bothering.

    Shame nice concept.

One of the most annoying games I've ever played
It has much promise, but chucks it all away with illogical puzzles, terrible gesture recognition and a needless old school attitude to mistakes (mistake = death = restart from beginning of level)

It could have been brilliant too

I disliked it at first, then grew to really appreciate it, then eventually got stuck on a really annoying puzzle. Not necessarily hard, just annoying. (Crying baby dragon, anyone?) I should probably just submit to a walkthrough on that one so I can get on with the rest of the game.

This is one you've just got to be in the mood for. And you've got to accept that dying over and over is just part of the mechanics. (I also had to realize that the most annoying bits - the WiiMote wiggling rythym game crap - are optional.)

A Flash demo... strange idea since I think a lot of the charm will be lost in the translation. Some puzzles will work, but some of the best ones will not.

'tis a nice little demo - I found it much more fun to play through than the Apollo Justice flash demo from a while back.

    Personally i thought Z & W was overrated.

it was okay. .good fun.. original.. and we NEED to see more of these types of innovative fun (non shooting) games on ALL the platforms.

But insta-death for just experimenting with different things was a bad idea. Yes i know you can buy clown tokens to restart from where you left off.. but in a game where you NEED to do trial and error that was too much.

As was the "only 3 attempts to do boss fights" thing. The ice mirror section was ridiculously unforgiving!

So good.. And i'd recommend playing it (i've even beat it.. finally .. and without cheating).. but not great (I didnt bother going back to get 100% by finding all the secrets before selling it 2nd hand)

Nice demo. More publishers should do that.

Alas, I don't think this has sold too well - I read somewhere recently that Capcom has discontinued production of it :(
