Wizard's Tower top-selling Oblivion DLC News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

2 February, 2009

Wizard's Tower is the most popular premium downloadable for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on Xbox Live, according to developer Bethesda Softworks. (Hrm, this sounded more interesting before we started typing.)

According to a post on the Bethesda blog, "every day, tens of thousands of people STILL play Oblivion and they purchase thousands and thousands of downloadable content - again, every day."

"Yes, even Horse Armor continues to sell daily." So much so, in fact, that it's the ninth most popular item on the list, ahead of the premium version of Fighter's Stronghold, although Bethesda noted that if the list took promotions and other freebies into account, Fighter's Stronghold would actually win.

Presumably Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles would improve their positions too, given their boxed releases and/or bundling.

We've reproduced the list below to put an end to this once and for all.

  1. Wizard's Tower
  2. Thieves' Den
  3. Mehrunes' Razor
  4. Spell Tomes
  5. Vile Lair
  6. The Orrery
  7. Knights of the Nine
  8. Shivering Isles
  9. Horse Armor
  10. Fighter's Stronghold

Their Wizard's Sleeve expansion proved less popular.

Slow news day.

Developer's have also announced "brr, it's a bit chilly outside, I might work from home."

I like the Horse Armour. I wanted Armour, for a Horse. What else was I going to buy, a pair of Swimming Goggles and a Boomerang?

Holy shit, what happened to the English language?? Thousands of downloadable content?? That's grammar taken out to the yard and shot in the back of its head right there.

Might be, but we've still got thousands of time to teach them proper grammar, isn't it?

@DFawkes.

I would buy a boomerang, add in a green cap and shirt and some empty bottles and bombs while you're at it.

Fighter's Stronghold must only be at 10 because of the lateness of release. It's a fantastic add-on!

Mehrune's Razor was brilliant, easily my favourite of the bunch.

Wasn't Fighters Strong hold free at first? I have it but didn't pay for it, I think it was a first-week offer. If so, I'd have thought it'd have been the most downloaded, but the least purchased with points.

I think most of the Wizard's Tower buyers got it for the herb garden and spellmaking altar - thus avoiding the lengthy and wanky quests to get into the mages guild and gain access to these. Shivering Isles was great, btw.

Cheers King of Spain, I can read fine, I just dozed off partway through the article. Shouldn't have bothered posting if I couldn't be bothered reading, but ball to that :p

I've never bought any of the extra stuff, for the simple reason I'm never going to live long enough to finish the core stuff, never mind Shivering Isles.

I never realized how many items there were for DL. It would be nice if the content went down in price over time.
