WipEout HD Fury here on Thursday

PSN expansion for eight quid.

Sony has announced that WipEout HD expansion Fury will be here this Thursday and cost GBP 7.99 / EUR 9.99.

Inside are three new race types - Eliminator, Zone Battle and Detonator - plus 12 tracks, 13 new ships, six new music tracks, a redesigned menu system and a new campaign as well as Trophies to win. There are more ranks to climb through online, too.

Arriving tomorrow will be a free WipEout HD update that adds new features and tweaks, such as a redesigned ship and track select screen.

There's more about the new modes, plus pictures, on the official European PlayStation blog.

    FIIINALLLLY!

    Great! Looking forward to it!

Mmmm... nice... the 12 new tracks and 13 new vehicles alone would have justified the asking price so all the other stuff is a nice bonus.

Hmmm... A bit expensive, truth be told!

Awesome. I think Wipeout's the one game that i've had true value for money out of on PSN. God knows how many hours i've spent on it. Rediculously good fun. I bet the new trophies are just as hard as some of the originals to get too!
  • phatb0y #6 3 years ago

    Good. But eight fucking quid?

    You are having a laugh.
  • breedob #7 3 years ago

How much did it cost when it first came out? I think it was £7.99?
  • wizlon #8 3 years ago

Can I have Wipeout HD plus this pack for one convenient and low price please?
  • toy_brain #9 3 years ago

According to some, that '12' number for the tracks might be stretching it.
4 regular tracks, reversed to make 8, then a 'Zone' version for each track would give you your 12.

Still sounds like a fantastic update though, and I'll be downloading as soon as PSN updates.

Shatter is out the same day isnt it?
It'll make up for last weeks rubbish update if it is.

Great. I haven't been playing WipEout HD in a while, but I loved Eliminator mode in Pulse and it was probably the thing I've missed most in HD. The screenshots they've shown of the new tracks look great as well.
  • bnazir #11 3 years ago

but will this sort out the shoddy multiplayer experience?
  • VicViper #12 3 years ago

    Probably not Bnazir, probably not.

However from a single player view point I can't wait, the new ship designs are awsome. If the include the Nosiria - machine gun track from the trailer as part of the new music that would also be very nice.

I checked my trophies for this the other night, and they were referring to Fury modes, got my hopes up that it was out already -_-

Should be good, can't help but think £8 is a little much. If it was £6 I'd probably buy it straight away, but at £8 I'll wait and see what people say about it. If it's good enough, they can have my cash.

can't believe ppl are complaining about 8 quid for this. i've played wipeout hd more than any full price game on my ps3 by MILES. and this update looks to be the same frakin size as the original game was. win all round and bye bye productivity methinks. the online experience isn't great, byt imho wipeout's strengths are the old splitscreen two player spliff on the couch with your flatmates modes.

How can you complain about £8
Your getting an awful lot for £8!!! Well done Studio Liverpool.

/activision[blizz] take note, this is value for money :-)

I agree - WOHD was/is fantastic and was priced very cheap for the amount of content and modes.

But the Fury pack only contains 4 new unique tracks (the full game has 8) and 12 variations. also the 4 new tracks are also remade Pure/Pulse tracks - not completely new ones.

Still a pretty fair price considering the new gamemodes, music, tracks, etc.... maybe not cheap but fair :)

Looking forward to see the new online modes and features.

    12 tracks fuckin brilliant
  • Luckyjim #22 3 years ago

Dunno. Part of me thinks that it's a bit pricey considering how much the full game costs.
  • Shakey_Jake33 #23 3 years ago

^Well, it's more because the main game was such a good price to begin with. Studio Liverpool can't win here, it seems. £8 is a steal.

    Good Price for Good Game.

Seriously, Wipeout HD is one of the best most surprisingly good games I've played this generation. After being a F Zero stalwart for generations this was the Wipeout that won me over to the dark side. And I'm enjoying every evil momoent of it. this couldn't come out soon enough for me.

    Roll on Thursday.

Have to say, I'm one of the people who said that wipeout HD was too cheap. But I did forget one very significant factor (that's starting to dawn more and more as downloadable games become prevalent) which is that you can't sell the games when you're done.

As a wipeout freak this doesn't bother me at all (as I don't sell my copies of wipeout on) but for other games this may become a problem...
  • JediMasterMalik #26 3 years ago

Considering the price of the game and the content in the fury pack, I think £8 is more than justified. Can't wait for Thursday! :D

I really liked Wipeout HD but the failure of online scores to update correctly really put me off. Has this been fixed yet?

The idea was that me and a friend could compete on courses but alas we had to text each other our lap times instead. He never bought the game because of this, just stopped playing the demo. I soon went off the game myself.

A real shame as everything else about the game was breathtaking. No £8 from me I'm afraid.
  • makeamazing #28 3 years ago

The only thing that is putting me off is that i completed all of the tracks, but some of the races were just too difficult to complete and get the trophies on. So I dont want to spend more money when i havent finished the previous one.

Is this update going to make it any easier (e.g faster ships on the older tracks?)

They added invites to the online as well as badges and ranks, so possibly they fixed the other things too. Definatley worth an update and a play if youve not played it for a long time .
