Wii Fit already selling out in the UK News

Wii News by Ellie Gibson

8 April, 2008

Those who fancy a bit of Wii Fit might want to order a copy now, as it's already selling out with more than two weeks to go until release.

Wii Fit is set to hit the shops on April 25th, priced at GBP 69.99 for the game and balance board accessory. More than one million copies were sold in Japan during the first month it was on sale, and now it's looking like that success will be repeated here.

Play.com sold out of its entire allocation of Wii Fit in just one day. Over at GAME the item as listed as "temporarily unavailable", while at Asda it's "sold out". However, you can still place a pre-order at some shops, including Gamestation and HMV, and the others might get some more in.

"Wii Fit is going to be huge - let's hope that we can keep up with demand," said Gian Luzo, head of games at Play.com. "We are expecting more stock before launch."

My local Argos has had a poster in the window about pre-ordering for weeks now, always thought it was a bit premature (they have nothing for GTA IV) but I guess I was wrong.

I thought that this price was a bit steep until EA came out with their Rock Band price. :)

I don't really know what to make of Wii Fit, it's not a proper workout and it's not really a game either, I'd rather get a game I could enjoy and go running or down the gym instead.

No doubt it will sell loads just like all those minigame collections but if Wii Fit and Canival Games Collection No. 84 are the future of gaming then I can see myself losing interest in gaming.

Most people buying WiiFit will properly burn more calories going to the store to buy it than they will using it.

This was obviously gonna be huge, i have no doubt it'll be in high demand as much as the Wii was when it first came out!

Yes, this will sell like hot cakes (or whatever the expression is) - and probably alot more than GTA or mario kart too.

Isn't GTA IV out the same day?

Will be interesting to see how Wii Fit fares against that. It's literally a 'traditional' gaming versus 'casual' gaming face off, isn't it?

I predict GTA IV will clinch it, mainly because it's out on two platforms... could be wrong though!

139 lbs? Are you sure, 10 stone sounds extremely light to be the weight limit.

Pretty much rules out any man, and most of the women that would need it the most.

"Nintendo clearly state over 139lbs you will break it "

Obviously not clear enough, you're getting kg's mixed with pounds because they said 136kg's

The Japanese balance board can take up to 300lbs (136kg's), and the western one 330 lbs.

Also worth remembering that Wii Fit costs £70, so it's not exactly a like for like comparison.
