UT3 Titan Pack for PS3 today

Hulking expansion is completely free.

Epic Games says the Titan Pack expansion for Unreal Tournament 3 will be released free of charge on the PlayStation Network today.

That's according to lead designer Steve Polge, writing on the US PlayStation blog. The Titan Pack was expected earlier in March, but held back due to Sony's certification processes.

Inside the monster expansion are 19 maps, Greed and Betrayal game modes, the Titan mutator, the Link Station and X-Ray Field deployable items, Stinger Turret and Eradicator Cannon weapons, the Stealthbender vehicle, the Slow Field power-up and characters Kana and Nova.

That's on top of many extras added during a recent title update. These include split-screen support, an integrated mod browser, Trophies, visual and menu upgrades, AI improvements, better network performance and more mod support.

PC users can already download the content from FilePlanet; the Titan Pack won't be released on Xbox 360. Read more about it in our preview.

Looking forward to trying out the new additions this evening. I've been playing this a lot more since the v2.0 patch came out. I will give my PC version a going over once Intel release the Core i7 975 so I can finally upgrade my PC (still using AGP!!).

that's an impressive range of content for free... pity the game itself does nothing for my taste.

19 map? Bloody hell that's a nice expansion. More maps than most game, even if they were mediocre. I might try this out now, with all the added value.

It's really not that good, so I wouldn't get too excited.
The best thing about it is you can now actually adjust your graphics options on the PC vers without using the daft sliders.

The new powerups and the titan mode are stupidly unbalanced.

do some of them 19 maps come courtesy of the mod community?

So why is Gears getting map packs of 4 for 800 points!? Micro-bloody-Soft. Grr

    @ mcbi4kh2

I wouldn't have thought so. They should all be official maps from Epic.

I do like the new maps though. Ocean relic is cool.

Got the game for 23,5 euros on play.com the other day ... it's fun to play in contrast with Killzone for many different reasons. It's incredibly arcady, but the playability is good and there's plenty shallow fun to be had. The mod browser is a nice addition too.

It does remind me though (especially in combination with Gears on the 360) that EPIC's Unreal Engine seems incredibly overrated (and EPICs artists incredibly underrated by contrast). But maybe that's just me.

Been playing this a bit since the trophy patch came out - the new menu screen design is alot more usable and it's still a fantastic game - sounds and looks great, plus the same old classic UT fast and frantic gameplay.

Second hand for around a tenner too, definitely worth getting for this epic free pack.

The Titan Pack is decent, I downloaded the PC version a week or so back and there are some nice new maps in there. This is exactly the sort of extra value stuff that PC owners used to regularly get free with many games until the current generation consoles came along and premium downloadable content became the acceptable thing.

i cant believe i got rid of it a while ago. i did enjoy it while i had it as well
  • Vistrix #15 3 years ago

Why isnt this being released for the 360...??
  • Darren #16 3 years ago

@Vistrix - Presumably because the 360 already has some of the new maps and the splitscreen mode and maybe because its lack of support for user mods, etc., makes it difficult to update the game like you can on the PS3 and PC. I believe the 360 has a size restriction on title updates (a.k.a patches) too which might have caused problems. Both the PS3 and PC are more open platforms than the 360.

Wow, cool. I'd assumed the pack would be PC-only for some reason.
  • crozon #18 3 years ago

so are we going to see a sales spike on the ps3 version like we saw with the PC. its nice that there are a lot more people playing on the PC version now.

In the mod section of the menu there are some free packs for the taking as well. You can download them from the web site as well but for the peeps that didnt know you do now.

SCEE have delayed it by a week. No reason given yet. Epic are not impressed.
