UK charts: Wii Fit at No. 1 once again
New entries sparse. Top 40 inside.
Wii Fit keeps up the pace to take another UK all-formats top finish this week. This will be its fourth number one on the trot.
Below there's little more than minor jostling for position, as DS game Mystery Case Files: Millionheir is the only top 40 new entry at four.
FIFA 09 climbs slightly to two, bumping Call of Duty: World at War down to three. Professor Layton and the Curious Village is elbowed to five, ahead of non-movers Mario Kart Wii at six and Wii Play at seven.
Skate 2 takes eight, Mario & Sonic (who are still) at the Olympic Games finish at nine, and Guitar Hero World Tour rounds the chart out at 10. Incidentally, there's no sign of Rock Band 1 or 2 anywhere in the top 40, whereas Guitar Hero III still proves popular at 29. However, Rock Band 2 is only available for Xbox 360 here.
Retailer promotions for Left 4 Dead see the zombie-shooter race up from 29 to 15, and SimAnimals manages to break the top 40 on its second week of sale, landing at 22.
Despite a slow start, LittleBigPlanet still hangs in there at 22, as does fellow PS3-exclusive Resistance at 37.

great to see layton still selling well, at least it guarantees the sequels will make it out here at some point, although maybe later rather than sooner as a result.

WTF?!

Wii plays, after all, on guilt.
"Are you fat? Buy this console to fix that. Better than pills, and no need for outdoor exercise!"
I have the console myself, though. (cough)

The more I see Wiifit et al in the charts the more I become a fully fledged sociopath.
Now all it will take is one more old codger to come up to me a say "You tried one of those Wii's? Brilliant aren't they!"

You DID hear the announcement EA made last week didnt you?

Lets hope that never happens though ay?

Because devs want to make a game in a particular way, EA want to turn Need for Speed into a Sim for example, they'd get way better results on 360/PS3 than on Wii.
You can pull the same arguments for PC exclusive games like Crysis or WoW.
Never helps that the games that are making a killing are made by nintendo.
It might be a western dev's inability to make well made cheap costing game, because tbh I really can't remember the last interesting western made good game on the DS, and that's been raping the market for years.

It seems they are falling over themselves to make crap games for Wii!
If a developer or 3rd party publisher put in the effort and resource they are happy to do for ps3 or 360 they could make a killer wii game that would translate to much bigget sales and profits. Everone would be happy!
My Wii is gathering dust at the moment, I'm not interested in the 'Family' games, everything coming out seems shallow and shit. I'd be very interested in something like dead space which made the most of the unique controls, a pilot wings type effort or a cell shaded zelda type game.
Come on devs and publishers step up to the plate!

There's an interesting article by N'gai Croal in Edge about this, this month. I quote:
they [developers] will not lead development on the Wii until they've first exhausted every option ... But the leading platform is so significantly underpowered to its competitors - the equivalent of to GameCubes duct-taped together, as one industry veteran jokingly ranted.
and
What's more, at just about every level of a typical publisher - development, marketing, the executive suite - their history and expertise is lacking when it comes to the broad swathes of the large and growing audience to which Nintendo is appealing.
He then argues that development should lead on Wii, PS2 and low end pc's and up-port them to HD. (Given the succes of WoW, HL2 orange box, L4D, Flash games and iPhone)

So Wall-E selling more than Gears is because Gears is "obviously" a terrible game - but My Fitness Coach selling more than LBP is only because there are more Wii's (even though Wall-E is on every platform, whereas My Fitness Coach is a Wii exclusive)?
What a jackass...

Did i say GOW2 was a terrible game? No.. You just did.
I just said it was tired and repetitive...

These aren't exactly terms you'd use to describe a good game.
Face it, you were trolling!
