UK charts: Wii Fit Plus a healthy winner

Dragon Age arrives at five.

Wii Fit Plus finds itself on top of a busy UK chart this week, following positive reviews from the likes of us.

Dragon Age: Origins is the next new entry at five. BioWare's monster RPG has won the hearts of many gamers, but not quite enough to propel it above FIFA 10, Wii Sports Resort and Football Manager 2010, which it sits just behind.

SingStar: Take That, meanwhile, misses the top 10 completely, arriving at 16, but performs well for a band-related spin-off release. Sony may be disappointed with Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time, however, which enters at 22.

There's rare disappointment for Activision, too, as Band Hero hits all the wrong notes and doesn't even make the top 40. The Wii version is highest on its platform-specific chart at 14. DJ Hero also spends a second week in the middle of the all-formats top 40, this time at 21. Oh well - Modern Warfare 2 will probably do alright.

Ubisoft's crowd-pleaser Rabbids Go Home also starts poorly, despite favourable reviews, only showing up at 13 on the Wii chart.

Elsewhere, Brutal Legend falls out of the top 40, as do Batman: Arkham Asylum, The Beatles: Rock Band and Colin McRae: DiRT 2.

Sports resort has been bundled with Wii Fit packs recently, which probably helped it up the charts a little bit.

It's really sad to see the new Ratchet & Clank game enter at 22. Depressing even. It's a really lovely, fun game that is the PS3's nearest equivalent to a Mario Galaxy game albeit with some amusing weapons and comedy violence which Mario would scorn at. Or maybe that's its problem? Whatever, it's a real feel-good game IMO; funny, colourful, constantly entertaining and it expands on the two previous PS3 games by adding more platforming and puzzles to the mix... it really deserves to do so much better.

Hopefully it'll be a sleeper hit that sells over a long period of time but releasing it the same week as Dragon Age: Origins and one week before CoD: Modern Warfare 2 perhaps wasn't the most sensible idea really...

Not surprised Rabbids Go Home started poorly. The previous 3 party games had loads of ads plastered everywhere for at least a week before release and for weeks after..first ad I saw for Rabbids Go Home was on Saturday evening.

Poor Uncharted 2. What a great game.

You just can't beat the Wii! You can't! They've got this generation completely sewn up (sales-wise)...

Theres a new Ratchett and Clank game! How did I miss that. Oh well know what to get now when I trade in Uncharted 2 shortly then. :)
  • youhavenomail #13 2 years ago

At least the charts have finally seen the back of COD4.
  • Macross #14 2 years ago

I actually wonder how Dragon Age's position would be affected with digital distro as a factor. Its a brilliant game so far, probably crippled by the fact that CoD is being released 3 days after it :p
  • metalmike25 #15 2 years ago

I'd recommend Ratchet and Clank to anyone. It's probably the best game in the series and some of the level design is genius. I love Mario Galaxy as much as anyone but i'd probably say R&C is overall a better game. Everyone should play it!
  • gjgjg #16 2 years ago

@youhavenomail yes but this will be the last chart that doesnt include MW2 for 2 years
  • lavalant #17 2 years ago

I'm sure EG's bullshit 6/10 had something to do with DA being in at no5, so in a way they helped WiiFit+.
  • groovychainsaw #18 2 years ago

I would have thought dragon age would have got more downloads on the pc than normal, considering the price of the game at most retailers was equal/close to the digital price for once... (I downloaded for that reason), and they're missed out of the chart.

And poor old ratchet and clank. The closest thing to a pixar cartoon we've got on consoles, with good cross-generational appeal, great mechanics, graphics etc. consigned to a machine with a more mature (I mean older on average) user group than the 360 and being roundly ignored because of that. Shame. Almost be worth a Wii port, if you could keep the level of polish on there. They're dying for some decent 3rd party games :-)

About the 6/10 DA review on the 360 it's funny as if you actally read it it's got nothing to do with the game as a whole it's all to do with the fact 'it's not as good as the pc version' but as ppl skip the reviews thems and just look at the scores they never see it's full picture.

Go look at the pc review thats it's true score, thats why it's at 5.

A Crack in Time is probably a good game, I loved ToD and QFB. But better than Mario Galaxy!? Come on now! Let's get realistic! I sincerely doubt it.
Anyway, my bro bought Dragon Age and I thought it looked awesome. Good to see it up in the top 5.

Same here, loving every minute of it so far (as is my wife).

You have a wife,... which plays Dragon Age? My life feels so... empty.

It's really sad to see the new Ratchet & Clank game enter at 22.

They released way too many R&C games on the PS2, probably wore people's interest in the series down.
  • Inigo #24 2 years ago

I didn't even know that Ratchet & Clank was out, where are all the reviews of the game. If this came out at another time of the year i would have jumped at the chance.
  • metalangel #25 2 years ago

Stuff like WiiFit shouldn't be counted on here, it's not a game. If Jamie Oliver's Fat Tongue Cookbook on the DS was a huge success, would that also be here on the games chart, despite not being a proper game?

Same thing a decade ago with Norton Antivirus always being in the Top 5.
  • Cid #26 2 years ago

    Does it really matter?
