UK chart: Crackdown 2 still top

Toy Story 3 goes in at five.

Xbox 360 exclusive Crackdown 2 is number one in the UK all formats chart for the second week running.

Developer Ruffian will be delighted with the open world action game's performance. Christian Donlan gave it an 8/10 for Eurogamer.

Up two places to number two is Wii music game Dance on Broadway, which has enjoyed TV advertising in recent weeks. Down one place to third is the lovely LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4, which scored an impressive 9/10.

Elsewhere, in a quiet week for new releases, the surprisingly good Toy Story 3 debuted in fifth spot, and Alan Wake (11th), BioShock 2 (12th), Split/Second (16th) all re-entered the top 20.

    Good job Crackdown.

Toy Box mode is so addictive. Stopped me playing Crackdown this weekend.

I don't know why Crackdown being No.1 for the 2nd week surprises me, but strangely it does.
  • Whizzo #4 2 years ago

    That's still quite an achievement.

Must be a slow time for sales. I mean I have Crackdown 2 and all, it's pretty fun, but I can't get away from the fact that's it's disappointing. Hopefully the sales will be good enough for us to get a proper sequel that Microsoft will give the developer a long enough time to build from the ground up.

Well done to the 360 Slim for becoming the fastest selling reincarnation of a console, outselling the PS2 and PS3 Slim. Game will have thousands of part-ex models to get rid of; I bet very few people who purchased the 360 Slim are new 360 owners.

    It's weird.

Crackdown 2 is essentially Crackdown 1 with new enemies and a slight lick of paint... And yet I can't stop playing it. Those god damn orbs, you're still like cocaine to me. Come to me... Precious, precious orbs.

Fun superhero comic-inspired coop snadbox blast fest with zombies - and people are doubting why it could still be #1? :)

Plus it seems to have been released at a good time without competition - win.

@Jordan_NK Yeah I have to agree with you but man does the map suck in the game cant place waypoints and well it is just bollocks but I have enjoyed playing the game alot since I picked it up but it makes the flaws all the more annoying. Such as said map screeen and ledges that you think you can grap on but cant or you dont think you can but cant

I picked Crackdown and Toy Story up last Friday. Toy Story has been the most fun out of the two and by quite some distance.

I think I've got "Orb Fatigue", I could see orbs quite close by, but could'nt be bothered to go and fetch them. Crackdown isn't a bad game by any means, but it just isn't very interesting or exciting .
  • GamesConnoisseur #12 2 years ago

The game being either enjoyable or disappointment would depends strongly on how you view the orbs hunting being addictive or not.

For me it's certainly addictive element of crackdown, the second time around, most other features are just no longer a novelty and still think the first one to be the better experience. Still pleased for Crackdown 2 to get something out of it.

I'm glad about Crackdown 2, mostly so that a "proper" third version can be released as a launch title with the new Xbox.
  • glaeken #14 2 years ago

I think with Crackdown2 they really have picked a perfect release window. I cannot actually see anything unseating it next week either given the next high profile games on the PS3/360 are not out till end of August. Of course some Wii cooking/dancing game may be due for release that I am unaware of so that might end up unseating it.

Like others I am glad to see Crackdown do well as hopefully that will mean they put more effort into the next game in the series.
Not that Crackdown2 has been a bad game its just not what it could have been.

And still no EG coverage of Dance on Broadway!

And still no EG coverage of Dance on Broadway!

This is what pisses me off about E/G: I always hang on to read game reviews before I make a purchase (I trust this sites reviews) and like Just Dance, Dancing on Broadway has been released without an E/G review. I went ahead and bought Just Dance on the off chance that it would be ok and fortunately it has been my GOTY up to now.
  • Jackface #17 2 years ago

People like you shouldn't be allowed to read EG. Just Dance, I mean really, come on.
