Ubisoft doing EndWar headset bundles News

PlayStation 3 News by Robert Purchese

5 November, 2008

Ubisoft has decided to bundle official Sony PS3 Bluetooth headsets with Limited Edition copies of Tom Clancy's EndWar.

And this is rather helpful, as the game supports voice commands for ordering troops around.

Play seems to be the only place selling these Limited Edition copies at the moment, for the ripe old price of GBP 59.99.

That's quite a lot, considering most Bluetooth headsets work with the PS3, and that most mobile phone companies are happy to bundle them with just about anything.

But they're not official PS3 peripherals, of course, and so lack charging cradles, USB to USB mini cables, and various other useful features for playing games.

Tom Clancy's EndWar is due out this Friday on Xbox 360, PS3, PSP and DS.

Expect our thoughts on the game soon.

EG you gonna do a mini review on the Official PS3 headset anytime soon?

It would be a much preferable use of your lead Nerds time, rather than that wall of numbers he posted yesterday, in the framerate comparison.

Much Love.

Rob: That headset is excellent though while many many standard mobile phone ones are shoddy and have a short range.

Actually that seems quite expensive considering you can get SOCOM with the headset for £30 from Play.com or Game.co.uk
Still a smart move because it's £20 for a good headset with a game that definately benefits from it (the demo was great - I was surprised just how good and how natural the voice controls were)

The new official headset is really nice - great quality, user friendly with OSD and comfortable to wear. I recommend it.
Bought a US SOCOM bundle from Axelmusic.com just for the headset :)

Update - Play.com lowered the price again to £34.99. Still, the SOCOM beta was crap. I preferred MGO. I would suggest getting the bundle if you want to play SOCOM or if you can sell it on as a separate game and make some money back. You can get the headset on its own for £17.99.

The headset is very, very good.

The official PS3 headset is overpriced.

Most mobile phone BT headsets will work fine, are about as good and MUCH cheaper.

Other headsets work but the PS3 has been updated to work differently with that paticular headset...how can it be overpriced when a crapy 360 one cost £14.99

The Sony one is one of the few with noise cancellation. £17.99 over priced...try it first!! Seriously its great
