The Sniper next for TF2 makeover
Plus: X360 patch "still being worked on".
Valve says the Sniper class revamp will arrive in "the largest Team Fortress 2 update yet", which has new maps and gameplay tweaks galore.
There's no date for that, but Valve promises us an additional patch containing content for all TF2 classes before then, according to the TF2 blog.
The developer also offers an insight into the progress of the Xbox 360 patch.
"The Xbox 360 update is still being worked on," writes Greg Cherlin. "If you're wondering what's taking so long, since the content is 'done' on the PC already, it's mostly been around fitting it all onto the Xbox.
"The original version of TF2 in the Orange Box was very close to the Xbox 360 memory limit, and all the additional TF2 content we've produced has pushed well beyond it.
"We've found a couple of nifty ways to get back a bunch of that memory, but it's turned out to be a lot of work, and that's what most of our time is being spent on. In the meantime, we're going to get a code update out to address the server cheating that's going on," he adds.
The Sniper, incidentally, will be the fifth class addressed by Valve so far; the Scout, the Heavy, the Pyro and the Medic have all been given new toys already.

Brilliant title on the TF2 website for the announcement of the Sniper update: "Wave goodbye to yer head, wanker" ^__^

fucking shit updates lately, all classes i hate
Ah yes, the standard internet definition of "shit": stuff I hate.
@dsmx
Naw, they're good if they're played by team players: for example, a horde of camping idiots is no use to an offensive team regardless of the class they're playing but a sniper who takes out the enemy medic just before an assault is invaluable.

actually the sniper is a real team player, great for taking out engineers and anyone standing still for a couple of seconds

so how does taking out someone standing still not doing anything help the team? Having played 50 hours of engineer I've never been sniped so I fail to see how that's much of an issue either.
You've never been sniped in 50 hours as an engie? Never? Maybe you should try playing on servers with other players.
And if you check you'll see that he said "someone standing still for a second or two" not "someone standing still not doing anything" those are two entirely different things. A medic pausing to over-heal team members just before a push, an engineer trying to repair or upgrade his turret (often followed by sniping the turret itself), a demo man raining stickies onto static defences or someone waiting for the health or ammo to respawn are all examples of people who stand still for a second or two. Hell, a spun-up heavy is practically standing still. They are also great for taking out rocket jumping soldiers.
Personally, I never really play sniper (or spy) but I appreciate having a good players play those classes on my team.

I honestly don't understand. He's saying the sniper is next, but the other classes will go first? I'm confused.
The next class pack (as in, an update that adds 36+ achievements and alternate weapons to unlock for a specific class) will be the sniper but before that class pack is ready there'll be another, separate update that includes some new content for all classes. However that update won't be the class packs for those other classes.
I'm hoping engie is the next class after sniper.

I thought no one played this, why are they putting so much effort into it?
I take it you have the X360 version, then?

And I won't make the same mistake I did with the Pyro and Medic of playing Achievement Boxes and inflating my stats for those classes to the point where they're meaningless. I wish I could reset them.

You really couldn't be any more uninformed about this game.

Not at all. On the PC there are 20,000 players a night, which puts it's up there with L4D as the second most popular PC shooter (after CS)
