Sony reveals SingStar: Take That

Come! Come! Come into my arms.

Sony has announced SingStar: Take That for release on PS3 and PS2 later this year.

There's also going to be a Take That SongPack on the SingStore later this summer to celebrate. It's got five songs from the big version.

SingStar: Take That follows the boys from string-topped urchins to winter-coated men, stuffing in songs like Could it be Magic, Back For Good, Never Forget and Shine.

But who will you be? Boss-eyed Barlow? Mark? Robbie? The other two?

So far we've seen SingStar: Queen and SingStar: ABBA released. SingStar: Motown was announced at E3, and we're getting extra online community features this September.

I wish they would stop making this shit.

Why can't they make one game, and then just add the DLC or whatever for losers who would want to sing this crap.

@DoctorZoidberg: Because it's a great deal more convenient to get a bunch of songs on one disc than to download them all individually and have them taking up space on your PS3's hard drive. It's also a pretty sound marketing decision, especially since the special discs usually contain a bunch of songs which are not available for download (and they're cheaper as a bundle, but that's not something that has to be true by anything other than the whim of the marketers).

But you hate SingStar anyway, so why did you even bother to comment? Go and enjoy something else for a bit, you'll feel better.

Personally, I think a good special edition SingStar would be Bond themes. There are just about enough of them, especially if they included the ancillary songs from some of the films (Tomorrow Never Dies had a different song over the end credits, for example). That said, it might go better in Rock Band, because then they could do the instrumentals as well.

Now, if they did Postal: Take That Edition, where you get to unload all manner of death-dealing weapons at the warbling wankers, I'd be at least vaguely interested.

    EDIT: Fer gramma.

bond themes eh? I think just famous movie themes, it gives them more freedom and lets them do cool songs (That annoying one from Titanic) and cheesy songs like Top Gun - Danger Zone, lol

Hen parties will never be the same again.

    Say it ain't so...

Of course I can choose not to buy it but it will also mean no resources working on worthwhile SingStar content...

@DoctorZoidberg: Additionally the main market is probably still on PS2 which generally does not have a hard disk.

    @sanctusmortis

I observed a similar effect with mine =) (my wife, not my breathing)

Some people forget that outside the too-cool-for-school gamer crowd, in the real world Take That got cool again. This is going to sell like absolute hot cakes.

I agree, the sad contingent who derive some form of identity through "cool gaming", (an oxymoron if ever there was one) need to grow up. This IS a cool piece of software as it invariably means "special treats" from the Mrs. How thoughtful! You're the best!

    Clearly made of win.

*edit* Nights out at the pub (with the lads) while she has her mates round to play it? Double win!

If it doesn't suit your own tastes it's automatically shit! shock!

This will sell loads. I'm not a fan, but they've sold out of their tour pretty quick which means something yeah? (awaits sarcasm as usually seen on this forum)
