Update: EA has confirmed to Eurogamer that Rock Band 3 will be released on 29th October in the UK.

Original story: Rock Band 3 will ship simultaneously worldwide on Tuesday, 26th October, MTV and Harmonix have announced.

GameStop, Amazon and Wal-Mart are signed-up as the American retail pre-order partners. GameStop's got three downloadable songs to entice your loyalty, Amazon's got an in-game guitar and a $10 voucher and Wal-Mart's just got a $10 voucher.

The most eye-catching new feature of Rock Band 3 is the keyboard peripheral. Rock Band 3 has a Pro mode, too, that uses the six-stringed guitars to actually teach you to play the instrument.

Plus, bands can now be seven people strong, and there's a new goal-based story career story with drop-in, drop-out gameplay.

Rock Band 3 is in development for DS, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

Is this the one with the "real" guitar?

Have you read even a single line of the article?

I will definitely get this. Skipped RB2 entirely because EA failed to get the newer instruments to Europe after I sold RB1 with my instruments hoping to pick up the new ones. Didn't work out too well.

I read you can get a little dongle thing and play any real guitar to play... but then I might of imagined it in a smoke filled haze... yeah, come to think of it, blurry images of coffee shops and hookers, yeah I think I imagined it.

I'd really like them to unlock all the songs on the disc for freeplay mode with my friends - there are songs on the disc that I'd like to play, that you can't pay to download, but that I can't be bothered to play 'Creep' twenty times to earn.

I wonder.. is there also a non-six stringed guitar peripheral, or would that just be one of the old ones? I have no interest in learning to play guitar when I'm playing a video game.

I read that the only bundle available this time will be game and keyboard. The article of course focused on the US but I doubt that it will be that much different in Europe.

There will be game/keyboard bundles available as well as full band bundles (territory dependent). 'Normal' guitars will be available in addition to the 6-string real guitar and there is also a MIDI converter box that will allow you to use a real MIDI keyboard, MIDI drum set or MIDI guitar.

I don't think it works with MIDI guitars though, but it should do you well with that drum kit.

They did the same thing with Rock Band Green Day. That was announced for a "worldwide" release on a Tuesday, but then didn't show in Euroland until the Friday. Bit rubbish really, but a load better than the time between the original Rock Band released dates in US and Europe.

Only just got into this by using RB Beatles, but definately more excited about the keyboard and proper guitar... if i can learn the guitar and have fun... then its win win.

I hope there is a 80's pop RB once the keyboard is released

Can't wait for this. Really loved the Rock Bands, so much better than Guitar Hero (imo). I reckon I'll get the game and keyboard as it might finally give me the push to learn the keyboard properly. I have a couple of real guitars already so I'll give the Squire a miss. A real shame they couldn't do some sort of tone matching so I could plug my existing guitars in but you can't have it all.

They already confirmed that the majority of MIDI guitars should work with the MIDI brain and they are hoping to have a compatibility list out before release.

The even better news is that the new Pro-Guitars and Keyboards are MIDI guitars and Keyboards in themselves and you can plug them into your PC and get to the music making yourself.

But will UK Wii owners get RB2 before RB3 comes out, thats the big question

RB2 is out. Just a pain in the ass to find.
