Red Dead title update next week

MP connectivity, Mo Van Barr bounty fix.

Rockstar has trumpeted the arrival of a Red Dead: Redemption title update "by the end of next week".

The official blog says multiplayer connectivity and the Mo Van Barr bounty are top of the fix-list.

Those struggling to connect to the game's multiplayer online servers ought to try a couple of Rockstar's suggestions on the blog first.

As an apology for any ongoing problems, Rockstar will release the Savvy Merchant and Expert Huner outfits this summer for free.

There's also more free DLC coming later this month in the shape of co-op mission pack Outlaws to the End.

Nice to see some free stuff is one the way by way of an apology.

Regarding Tom's video, erm, maybe not in the best taste right now!
  • uglygamer #2 2 years ago

about time they try and fix the multiplayer issues. I Lost count how many times the game froze on the loading screen.
  • Halfpint666 #3 2 years ago

Too bad the Mo Van Barr update's a little late. Would have liked it before I 100% completed the thing -.-

Still, good to see they're addressing issues, the multiplayer fix will certainly be appreciated :)

  • reelbigkris #5 2 years ago

Risky choice of video there!... that being said i think it was the only red dead redemption vid I watchedon the site, so perhaps was just chosen because of the amoutn of views... I hope

have to say, I'm amazed by the support they've given to this game in relation to problems. multiple posts to forums by support staff, LISTENING to issues and complaints, offering up freebies, gifts etc...

other companies take note, this is how it should be done. Kudos.

A fix for the Free Roam Challenge Sharpshooter II Rank 2 glitch please.
  • Rirekon #8 2 years ago

Give over on the comments about the video, seriously. If the world stopped every time something horrible happened we'd never do anything.

Back to the actual topic at hand; Good on them for giving a little back!
  • tinners #9 2 years ago

Ah yes Expert Huner, or Hunter? as it's known to many :)

Wouldn't Expert Hunter and Savvy Merchant have been free anyways, seeing as how companies are now releasing the first couple DLCs for free? Or is there already a free DLC planned? Plus, it's just two new outfits that they've made before the game was released anyways. Most people find it distasteful to hold back already-made content, cut it from the game, and charge for it later.

But good that they're addressing it.

Awesome. If I could actually get hold of a fucking copy of the game (what gives?!), I'd be quite happy about this.
  • danmachine #12 2 years ago

i havnt even been experiencing any multiplayer connection problems
  • Svecke #13 2 years ago

Please explain to a clueless swede in a cave why the video is a poor choice at the moment?

    Thank you.

Go to the above link and see why the vid may be taken in bad taste!

    "EDIT:
@Rikeron so if the day after 9/11 someone had posted a video at the end of the article with the event being recreated for fun in a game, that wouldn't be considered slightly tasteless? Who are you to say it shouldn't be seen as such? Apparently many people saw it that way."

They weren't recreating anything though. Everyone's getting offended for other people's sake.

It's like that time Prince William killed my grandad by rolling over him with a giant beachball. I couldn't play Katamari Damacy for weeks, but I didn't bitch on Gametrailers when they posted a new trailer.

What's the Mo van Barr glitch?
  • zubnut #17 2 years ago

The video was actually on the site ages ago for anyone who still thinks it's in bad taste...
  • WinterSnowblind #18 2 years ago

    @danmachine
Really, you didn't expect them to add those costumes? They were already created and in the game, as the promo video showed. They obviously weren't going to let them go to waste. And considering they were all done before the game was released, I'd have actually been rather annoyed if they weren't free.

Still a nice gesture, but your praise seems a little misplaced.
  • Lee_Morris #19 2 years ago

I'm liking this word 'free'. Has a nice ring too it.

Edit: Seriously bad taste with the video. You don't usually put videos in news posts, so it REALLY looks are taking the piss over the horrendous shootings yesterday. (My error I see there are some vis on the top news stories, still we don't need the vid at all and the tag line is frankly gross) Your obviously aware of what happened unless your brain-dead.

So anyone of staff want to say WHY you randomly put that video in the news piece? I'm sure some trashy newspapers and websites would love to run your name through the mud if they found out.

Lol it's a game about shooting people it's a video of him playing the game.

And EG do post videos of them playing games now it makes sense to include it.

Nothing to do with world events it's like saying you shouldn't play the game for a week.
  • jumpdeveraux #21 2 years ago

I had Mo Van appear just fine but after capturing him no scrap for the outfit. In fact performing all the other tasks that should yield a scrap yield nothing despite the outfit being listed in my downloaded content.

So I hope they fix the overall problem with these unlock codes and not just make all NPC's Mo ;-)
  • mkreku #22 2 years ago

I'm guessing these DLC's will be in the Red Dead Redemption GOTY Edition for the PC when it's released? Right, Rockstar? Right..?
  • GodofGamblers #23 2 years ago

Any word on fixing the button mapping issue for us Jap PS3 owners?
  • Murton #24 2 years ago

The only multiplayer connectivity issue I've encountered in RDR is that a kick vote can be forced through with such speed as to dump the player before all votes are cast and without a majority. The person being voted on also doesn't get a vote, making the problem incredibly hard to avoid should the people on the free roam server be dicks that want to break your trophy/challenge runs for he sheer hell of it.

Hopefully that too can be addressed through a "title update" or patch as they're more commonly known.

Hi guys. Obviously that was a pretty poor choice of video based on recent events. I believe someone grabbed the first one on the list (we have a tool in our CMS for inserting videos) and didn't look too closely at its content before inserting it. Clearly we don't find the events of Wednesday the least bit amusing, it was a genuine error and I'm sorry if it caused any offence.
  • Bahumet #26 2 years ago

What about some of the other glitches? Why do I just randomly keep running off into the sunset with no control over him? Happened once just as I was about to save and had to reload. Very annoying!
  • Lee_Morris #27 2 years ago

At least it's been removed. I think the tag line was the most offensive part of the thing becuase I think everyone knows that's what happens in Red Dead. It was just the 2 put together was just plain wrong.
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #28 2 years ago

Hello. I'm very sorry about the video I chose to include in this article. I actually was completely unaware of the tragic real-life news and appear to have made a spectacular blunder.

I found the footage of Tom on a rampage interesting and the reason for inclusion goes no further than that.

My personal apologies to anybody offended.
  • geeza2020 #29 2 years ago

i think anyone who is actually offended by a bloody video on a game site in relation to real life events is making a mockery of the actual victims, and is being extremely condescending to all the people in grief over these horrible events. Do you really think the people grieving over lost love ones couldnt give a flying fuck what an article on a games website says. IMO.
  • Spency #30 2 years ago

Really hope the patch works. I haven't been able to play any public free roam or other game types at all. It did mean I finally got round to opening up my NAT settings in an attempt to fix it though. Didn't help with RDR but it should speed up matchmaking for some of my other games.
  • Harmonica #31 2 years ago

Mo showed up twice for me, the first time he managed to escape (only time a bounty has managed to do that).
