Professor Layton film coming in 2010 News

PC News by Robert Purchese

27 November, 2008

Level-5 chief Akihiro Hino has said an animated Professor Layton film will arrive in Japan on the very first day of 2010.

That's according to IGN, which sat through a press event by the developer last night.

There's no word on a Western release but, as with the DS series, we can probably expect a translation at some point.

The press event was held to celebrate the Japanese release of Professor Layton and the Final Time Journey today. It's the last game in the series, and has already shipped a whopping 700,000 copies.

All three Professor Layton games have shipped a total of 2.45 million copies in Japan.

So far, the West has only seen the first game, Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Not that we're complaining, as the gorgeous, elaborate and silly adventure is one of the most outstanding titles on the handheld.

Roly-poly over to our Professor Layton and the Curious Village review to find out why this should be in your Christmas stocking.

Curious Village is probably one of the best DS games I own. Easily worth the purchase.

Can't wait, the characters and storyline(s) are charming and very easy to fall in love with. Looking forward to Pandora's box being translated for Western audiences!

Professor Layton and the Curious Village sold out everywhere I went last weekend, in three different towns. Lots of people I know, including myself, is buying this game for their mothers for Xmas; even Mrs StooMonster said that people in her office are buying for their mums too.

Yeah - it'd be great if I could find the damned game! I haven't played my DS since the rather excellent TWEWY.

My mum already has the game, trying to find a copy for my niece. My sister found a copy on-line @ Littlewoods Direct last night went to pay for it and promptly spazzed out at the Verified by Visa process.

excellent. will make an ace movie. my one fears about the game is that it's popularity is going to spawn a rift of shitty rip-offs. best game on ds i reckon!

Nowhere has any stock of this game. Mines been on order with an online retailer for a couple of weeks. How can Ninty cock up the stock of a game for gawds sake?

That game is absolutly awesome. Played through and am currently tackling the harder bonus-puzzles. The 2nd best DS-game I played this year, next to TWEWY. I want more Layton!

I am just wondering, how the are going to make a movie, about a guy that is asked to solve puzzles when ever he encounters a person :)

So 20100101? 20100102 would be a cooler date... but maybe there is a hidden riddle here, can anyone see it?

ah, good call Leftlion,(they are already working with them on another project as well.)
i waited a long time for the euro version and its well worth the effort and £25, top craftsmanship.

im curious about the live action one though, is it with a japanese cast? an english cast or god forbid something.... else.

fabulous game, but I'd have enjoyed it almost as much had it just been an endless sequence of puzzles. The story without the puzzles would be meh to the k homeboy...

The cartoon bits in the game were good enough to have me looking forward to this.
