Play as Doppelganger in Tomb Raider DLC News

Xbox 360 News by Tom Bramwell

23 February, 2009

Eidos has confirmed that you will get to play as the Doppelganger in the second Tomb Raider: Underworld DLC episode, Lara's Shadow.

"Yes, there is a brand new playable character in Lara's Shadow, the Doppelganger," senior DLC producer Ron Rosenberg told Eurogamer in an exclusive interview.

"The Doppelganger is a dark and deadly double of Lara with incredible powers and instructions to end the Croft lineage once and for all."

"We developed new gameplay mechanics to support her superhuman strength and agility that make the experience different than any other Tomb Raider game. It's a rush to play," he added.

Rosenberg also confirmed that both Lara's Shadow and tomorrow's first instalment, Beneath the Ashes, will go on sale on Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60).

Elsewhere in the interview, we discuss Beneath the Ashes, and the question of value for money and downloadable content. For his part, Rosenberg reckons the episodes take between three and six hours to finish.

Shouldn't this have been released on the disk?

800 points seems a little pricey, still haven't even taken the shrink wrap off the copy I got for Christmas anyway.

Now I know a twist that I didn't before. I'll make the rest of the story up myself and simply not play the game.

It says in the article it was not on the disc as the disc was full.
