No word on PS3 SOCOM for Europe

But US gets price AND release date.

The European version of PS3 exclusive SOCOM: Confrontation is still lost in the bushes.

"We have yet to announce a release date and price for SOCOM in the UK," sergeant Sony told Eurogamer this afternoon.

That follows confirmation of an October 14th release in the US, and word there will be three ways to buy the war game.

Americans could get it on Blu-ray or PSN for USD 39.99, according to the SOCOM website, or pay USD 59.99 for the game plus a Bluetooth headset and behind the scenes video.

Sony also revealed plans to begin a public beta test for the game in September. Buy Episode 1 of Qore to join in. Cheeky.

SOCOM: Confrontation is an online tactical shooter with lots of realism and battles for up to 32 players.

Special forces from all around the world will be playable, including our own tea-drinking SAS, and plenty of improvements have been made in squad and clan departments. Recruits can be promoted and demoted on a whim, making whittling down your fighting force a little easier.

    I've never tried SOCOM, and I haven't really looked into it either. What kind of action game is it actually? What can it be compared to?

    I couldn't really care less about the game, but i would like a date and price for the swanky looking official headset it comes with.

    The SOCOM series always felt a little bland and generic. I played a fair bit of SOCOM 2 online, but mostly because it was the only PS2 game with any sort of sizeable comunity. This doesn't look vastly different.

    The original SOCOM was an incredible online game (and at the time, broke many records for concurrency in an online console game). This latest game apprently takes things 'back to basics' and the core SOCOM 1 gameplay.

    I really hope so, as I loved the first one a lot. If this has the same core gameplay, it'll be wicked.

    It's not just for people who download Qore though, get your facts right.

    It'll open first and foremost for those who pre-ordered the game in the US, and opens a week later to people who download Qore #1.

    I think you're confused with GRAW :-) Still, I do like the sound of this. If only the PS3 had a better controller.... i.e. with proper triggers like the 360 and decent sticks.

    Socom II was the best online console game I have ever played. Better than Tom Clancey and Halo 2 and 3. It was good from 2003-2005 but after that cheaters took over so now the game is almost unplayable. But that is Zipper's fault not the game itself. The maps, guns, teamwork, and game modes were all fantastic. and there were much less little kids screaming in your mic (I'm looking at you Halo).

    SOCOM Is the best game i have played and cant wait for this new 1.
    If eney one has info about release date please let me no.
    SOCOM 1&2 were very good , 3 got a bit shity because of cars you could drive(it took the teamwork and and style of play out of the game) But this new one SOCOM 4 (AKA SOCOM Confrontation) Look's like its bringing back the 1st and 2nd SOCOM style of play back witch is what we all want.

    I am more than happy to give this game a 10/10 and i havent yet played it lol.
