E3: No Miyamoto for Nintendo conference

Still - Reggie! Cammie! Satoru Iwata!

Nintendo has revealed who will be taking to the stage for its E3 conference this year.

It doesn't look like Shigeru Miyamoto will be making an appearance, unless they're planning a special surprise. Instead we can expect president Satoru Iwata and Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime.

Plus there's Cammie Dunaway, executive vice president of sales and marketing for NoA and star of last year's conference.

Miyamoto will definitely be in town during E3 week - in fact, he's doing a behind-closed-doors presentation for a smaller audience later on. We'll be there, so stay tuned.

    I reckon he's poorly. Nintendo have already made a big deal about him not being the be-all and end-all of the company. Only reason they'd do that is if they wanted to safeguard their reputation in his absence. He's either terminally ill or leaving the company.

    Yeah, I've heard he's dying and is too sick for public appearances. And he's leaving Nintendo for Hudson.

    I bet he'll make a short surprise showing at one of his games. They don 't want to list him because he's never been a very good speaker.

    I hope they show graphs.
    Everyone loves graphs.

    A pie chart would be great.

    so nintendo's show is gonna be just as good as last year then?

    Bring back that guy who was on the Wii music drums from last year, he was ace

    Cammie will be there? Oh good! Is she the one who was desperately trying to look like she was having fun whilst playing frisbee on Wii Sports Resort last year?

    I wonder if Ninty's conference this year will be as cringeworthy.

    Lol, Elliie I love the humour you inject into your articles.

    Great, 2 hours of looking at Cammie Dunaway's fake grin while she tries to enthuse the audience about the next batch of lifestyle games. Cant wait.

    It'll be worse, if there's no Mayamoto and Reggie and Cammie are let off their leads.
  • MORZTAN #10 3 years ago

    I hope Cammies appearence will be short and painless....

    Perhaps during a brief showing of WSR and then of.

    I want trailers and new announcements and piecharts!

    Lets be honest. If they say Miyamoto will be on stage then some will go into a frenzy claiming he's showing off the new Zelda/ Mario..and it'll turn out to be WiiFit Plus.

    First Iwata trying to downplay the achievements of his star designer, now he is coming to E3, but not to Nintendo E3? I really think Miyamoto may be leaving Nintendo, either for Sony or Microsoft, and now Iwata is in damage-control mode, trying to distance their success from Miyamoto's presence.

    What do you guys think?

    "I really think Miyamoto may be leaving Nintendo, either for Sony or Microsoft,"

    Is that the sound of xbox/ps3 owners wanking into their socks at that prospect?
  • man.the.king #14 3 years ago

    @smelly

    Well I can only speak for myself, and to answer your question, no.

    I was merely following the chain of events started by Iwata's comments and then this.
  • sneetch #15 3 years ago

    Gee, I sure hope Cammie's wrist is all better now.

    I was hoping for less from these guys and more from the development teams of upcoming projects (I mean seriously, they're doing the work why aren't they getting any glory?).

    @designerheadache
    Wii your life away...

    Nice. :)

    So sorry I did not read your comment, and that you had to feel pushed into going all sarcastic on me for that. Congrats on being "first"!

    However, if you wanted to play "who got there first", how about reading my post on Miyamoto "is not God", says Iwata dated 26-May-09 00:53:46"?

    I still think you know very little about Japanese company workers.

    A person's identity in Japan is very closely related to the company they work for. Whereas in the west young children would say "I want to become a fireman", in Japan they would say "I want to work for Toyota". A head man switching to the rival would be an utter disgrace, unless there were some very big fights going on. Given Miyamoto's freedom and stature at Nintendo, I very much doubt it.

    Of course the times they are a-changin, but this just sounds like utter tosh.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA

    Dude. Miyamoto hates the fucking guts of those companies. He's way too soft to actually say it out loud, but we all know he does. He hates "hardcore" gamers, the ones on the other side bawwing over how Wii fit sells more than Shooting Guy XXVII, and the ones on his own side bawwing over the removal of wave dashing.

    He will never, ever work for them.
  • smelly #22 3 years ago

    Me thinks Miyamoto will do a "surprise" entrance onto the stage and show off a new (insert title here - mario/zelda/pikmin)
  • man.the.king #23 3 years ago

    @Nikanoru

    "He will never, ever work for them"

    I hope so, as all three companies need their aces.
  • Machetazo #24 3 years ago

    Maybe NOT having Mr. Miyamoto as a confirmed presence in the presser, tempers the expectation of the traditional Nintendo fanbase, beforehand.
