Flagship has said us Europeans will not be treated to a Collector's Edition of Hellgate: London.

Instead, those of you after the package containing special artwork, a graphic novel, soundtrack, "Making of" DVD and in-game pet the Mantawraith will have to import it from the US, where it costs about USD 59.99.

UK folks also have no local retailers participating in the pre-order campaign, which varies from shop to shop and offers in-game dyes for armour, beta access and an opportunity to become a founder by forking for a lifetime subscription to the MMO-style multiplayer mode.

But, you will get access to all the treats if you buy your copy from one of the participating shops outside of the UK.

I don't care for special editions myself, but it seems a bit silly not to publish it in Europe where PC gaming is a lot bigger than in the US these days.

Not that I'm really bothered about this game, but it's still slightly annoying that a game set in europe, with a european city in the title isn't going to be as available over here. That just smacks of exploitation to me.

Stick MMO anywhere in a games description and its a near certainty that the publishers will decide that Europe is a bastard principality still languishing with 9600 baud modems, unworthy of the effort to attract the population of 40,000 that live there.

I just hope the game is crap so that I don't get tempted to buy a US import.

I was really excited about this game, last year. It'd be nice if it turns out to be great but I dont think the lack of a Collectors Edition here is going to be significant. Especially if the lack of interest demonstrated in the EG forums about Hellgate stories recently is any indication.
