See EA's Crysis in action
Trailer now on EG TV.
A new trailer for PC first-person shooter Crysis is now available for viewing on Eurogamer TV.
Crysis is being published by EA and developed by Crytek, the studio which brought us the Far Cry series.
It promises to deliver a "new kind of gameplay challenge" and features customisable weapons and armour plus dynamic environments. Your job is to defend humankind against an army of aliens intent on taking over Earth.
EA has yet to announce a release date for Crysis, but chances are it'll be out by the end of the year.

I want to play it - looks incredible.
But I thought it was a dx10 game so it'll be Vista bound...

This video looks tasty as fook. I hope this is out on the 360 so I don't need to spend shitloads on a new PC.

People seem to be forgetting about that..

The game looks amazing - one of those few ones where you feel like you will spend anything to have it running on your rig.

Those bloody mutant monkesy in Far Cry were a new kind of gameplay challenge, but not in a good way.
Looks flippin' amazing though, a dash of actual gameplay and the package will be complete

Now that looks seriously amazing. I have needed to update my laptop for quite some time now. This and Elder Scrolls could do it!

It'll probably debut on the PC as a DX10 "posterboy" then get a 360 port just like Far Cry.

Even so, if X360 IS DX10 capable, then so will be PS3 - and that is great news for us non-PC fanboys
@reality: Don't worry - it might be PC-exclusive RIGHT NOW, but you never know, do you? Let's keep our fingers crossed
Although I do wonder - Crytek guys seemed pretty determined to keep it on PC (Far Cry console ports/versions were all done by Ubisoft). I guess if the dev chooses to stick to the PC, consoles are out of luck even for EA games.

360 is nearly DX10 specced... (in fact that was always the plan of MS... DX10 is now based more on ATI specs)
In theory PS3 is as well... except for the small detail that there is no DX10 on PS3 so it will have to be ported to a different library (OpenGL?)

Somehow, I don't think my 6800 GT is going to like that :[

and I know why they quit working with Ubisoft.
Ubisoft sold the film rights to Far Cry to Uwe Boll. That would piss anybody off enough.

Errr???
XNA on PS3?
I guess you mean the capabilities of the engine.... yeah they should run on PS3 (unless they cannot get rid of unified shaders).

Thanks and I hope they stay independant.

Hehehe...
I guess you are right in a naive kind of way
Try finding that PS3 plugin
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Not true. Like dizzy said, the xbx2 has been more or less designed with dx10 in the back of the head. However, the ps3 will use linux and DX10 is a ms lib. It doesnt really matter though, the ps3 will most likely have their own lib that is very similar so developers can port stuff quite easely. I mean, you would recon that sony learned their lesson, right?
/crosses fingers.
And afaik, XNA covers a large variety of things to make development times shorter. Its not all code related (not sure as i get me info about it from the news). This could mean that it could be in part on the ps3.

Don't think i'm the naive one here
Comment below viewing threshold Show
Yes, but given that XNA is a MS software suite, not a third party framework angling for market share, why would MS develop an ps3 plugin? would they even open it up to allow others to develop one?
I guess you can make the case that that PS3 games are always gonig to be made and for MS its better to own part of that process even if the target platform is not theirs, but at this stage of the game, with the next gen fight just starting - can't see this happening in the forseeable future.
Surely XNA multiple build targets are reliant on the commonality of the underlying MS libs - whilst to the developer it should be a simple matter of choosing a new deploy target, not sure that in reality building a ps3 plugin is as simple as that.
Just my $0.02...

I think "ask" would be the understatement of the year here
I think MS was just making fun of Sonys dev environment when Allard said that. But who knows

(From Crysis article in this month's Edge)
Will Microsoft attempt to make Crysis another Vista exclusive? "No" is the instant reply, "Crysis is not Vista exclusive. It supports DX9 and Shader Model 2.0 for XP and up to DX10 and SM 4.0 for Vista because DX10 won't be on XP. But there is DX9.L, which will be the counterpart of DX10 in XP..."

Wrong! There was a 'similar' video to promote the CryEngine2 that came out a couple of months ago.
...and I don't remember anyone ever suggesting this would be an Vista exclusive either.
