EA premieres Godfather trailer

And we've got it on Eurofiles.

Electronic Arts has released a trailer for its film-licensed videogame version of The Godfather, which is expected to hit consoles in late 2005. Download it from Eurofiles here (5MB).

The trailer consists of a rendered version of the late Marlon Brando as Don Corleone sitting in his office delivering a shortened version of the famous "Some day, and that day may never come..." monologue, all the while that music plays in the background.

EA hasn't officially commented on it, but rumour has it that Brando completed the recording of all his dialogue for the game prior to his death earlier this year.

Shortly after we first heard about the Godfather game, sources close to EA also suggested that it was chasing the voices and likenesses of Robert de Niro and Al Pacino to appear alongside Brando - something the publisher hasn't denied either.

The trailer concludes with the promise that we'll get our hands on The Godfather in "Fall 2005", although there's no word on which consoles are being targeted, or any real specifics on how the game will work.

It is however the first time EA has been open about the Godfather project since it was brought to light in March, and suggests that an outpouring of real info can't be too far away.

Some one will now blame EA for his death.

It's rather embarassing when game publishers feel they're on the same PR level as films. No, we don't require you to start beating the hype drum a year or even six months in advance! Give us a shout a couple of months before the real _release_ date and we'll listen if we're interested.
  • Sko #11 7 years ago

Yes, because thats _exactly_ the same situation, isn't it?
  • Dabs #12 7 years ago

Sko's point is that some licensed pap from EA should hardly be considered as worthy of a year's hype as the sequel to arguably the best PC FPS ever made.

HL2 deserved to have fans foaming about it for almost 2 years. EA must be pretty in love with themselves to think that their game should likewise be considered good enough to get gamers in a tizzy so long before its actual release.

Well done EA, go on making tat licensed games. There was this other huge company in the 80s called Ocean that did exactely the same thing..

Thank God for that. I thought I was being sooper obscure for a moment there.

Also, that 18 months you speak of, Throat, is pretty good if you ask me. Especially considering that until the last minute, the publisher thought they were going to be releasing it 14 months earlier.
