WarioWare dated, too

Not long to wait.

Fortunately for anybody smarting from the wait for Excite Truck (16th Feb), Wario Ware: Smooth Moves has now been dated too. It'll be with us on 12th January.

One of the more impressive Wii titles shown off at E3 and Nintendo's showcase event in London in September, Smooth Moves adapts the "micro-game" set-up of the Game Boy Advance and DS titles to take advantage of the Wii-mote.

As well as twisting the remote to steer a car, you'll pump it to blow up a balloon, hold it on its end to balance an umbrella on your finger, and do all of these things in a quick-fire sequence culminating in a quirky "boss" fight.

Plus of course there are multiplayer modes, with support for up to 12 players on just one controller, apparently.

Look out for a review as soon as possible.

As with Excitetruck, I wouldn't mind this game, but I'll happily wait 6 months and pick it up on ebay, on the cheap.

Do you think they'll ever let us play Twisted? I know I can import, but I try to pick up PAL games where possible these days.
  • Genji #4 5 years ago

Yes, it is a bit dated.

Not too sure, never played any of the Wario Ware games, IO'd say you'd be better getting a copy from the States or Japan. But you never know, it may be woth checking out on play.com or amazon

Toothball, as you may have noticed it is not possible to pick up PAL WW:Twisted, so you'd better import that.

    I know I did and haven't regret it ;{)

Twisted is a game everyone should own. If you've never imported a game in your life, now's the time.

    ^^^ Couldn't agree more ^^^
  • Toothball #12 5 years ago

Yeah, I've imported plenty of things from all over the world, back when I was young an impatient. I pretty much knew it was my only option for Twisted, but I held out for some reason. My flatmate did that ages ago, but I wanted to play my own copy without knowing all the games in advance.

I wonder how well it'll fit into a Micro.

Now THIS is well worth the wait!

Ace, definitely one of the most impressive titles at the Euro event.

Hey, you never know, there might even be some feckin' consoles to play it on by then too...

Twisted is brilliant - rivals the original for fun and glee. Will I ever finish unlocking the plethora of capsules?

Are these games somehow different when they're launched 3-4 months later here in the Europe? Is there some extra content?
  • jonsaan #17 5 years ago

Toothball. I don't think Twisted will ever come out here as it breaks some law or regulation we have. It's something to do with the technology that it uses. Could it be a mercury switch?

OK spongebob, we heard you on the Excite Truck comments page. :p To be fair, this one at least hasn't hit the US either, so we're being slightly less screwed on this one.

I'll buy this one as soon as I possibly can... WarioWare is my god. The games will be great, but I look forward to the stories just as much, actually! How will Wario be hurting himself this time? What's with the cheerleader outfit, Mona? Where will Jimmy be getting down today? And will Ashley still have that ludicrously kickass theme song? It's like a really deranged cartoon. :D

@jonsaan: Are you sure the laws stopping Twisted's Euro launch aren't against having fun? I can see this one in the rulebooks:

    European Directive 1739.2 Clause B:
The act of "Having Fun" may only be experienced at precisely defined angles. Any activity that can not be achieved at a fixed angle is prohibited.

    >Do you think they'll ever let us play Twisted

Apparently twisted uses mercury to do it's tilting mechanic.. and there's legal problems in the uk which stopped its sale.

Normally about 6 to 8 extra languages.. And modification to run in higher res pal format, and the high res 60hz option..

That and after all that they need to get resubmitted to the european console makers for approval.. And BBFC, etc etc.

"It's something to do with the technology that it uses. Could it be a mercury switch?"

It does sound that way, mercury is a big nono nowadays.

There are alternatives to a mercury tilt switch, but they cost a bit more and it might make the cartridge uneconomical to manufacture, considering they'd only been sold in europe.

The multiplayer is oddly locked until you have cleared a fair bit of the singe player.
