Modern Warfare 2 DLC in spring 2010 News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Robert Purchese

26 November, 2009

Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has confirmed the first batch of Modern Warfare 2 DLC for spring 2010.

"DLC is planned for the wonderfully vague time-frame of spring. I'll let you know when we know when it'll be done," he Tweeted, confirming reports from earlier this year.

As to what the DLC will bring, no one knows, although hackers did recently find code within the game for game-types Global Thermonuclear War (capture the nuke), One Flag (capture the flag) and VIP (protect/kill the VIP).

Bowling has also previously said that Spec Ops DLC is an option Infinity Ward would "totally" consider.

"So I mean, once the game is out we're going to take a little break and play with everybody and see what they want more of. I mean, if everybody's clamouring for more Spec Ops missions, that's something we're going to look at," he said.

How about nazi terrorist zombies? Could there be a more satisfying foe in a game?

I think not.

How about some DLC to allow auto-mute for any voice above a certain pitch/volume, say that of a 13 year old american kid? That would increase my enjoyment of this game by double.

As much as I'm loving the new maps, offer up the maps from CoD4 and I'd pay up in heartbeat.

I could imagine a Nazi Zombie-esque mode which they charge around 1200-1600 for!

There is no 360 exclusive dlc. MS paid to have a timed window yes, but that's all.

Ick. This almost sounds like some new sexual euphemism i'm unfamiliar with.........

"filling Kotick's wallet" (slang). Definition: To pay to watch someone roll around in money whilst laughing at you as they pleasure themselves.

I wonder how long that time exclusive is going to be. If we're looking at Summer for the first PS3 DLC I'll probably be a little annoyed. Or maybe I'll just have moved on the next shooter instead (hell, there's probably a good chance I will have done that anyway as I tend to lose interest in a game after a few months at the most).

But if I do stick around I definitely hope there's going to be some great new maps. MW2 has a few too many that are pretty lacklustre in my opinion, and at least one I find absolutely horrible for any of the game types I play (I'm looking at you Afghan).

VIP mode, yes please! Last remember playing that gametype in Rainbow Six Vegas I think. It's a lot of fun, a good change from other modes.

Because the improvements in the multiplayer are good enough that I might never go back. Kept hold of my copy though.
Some of those CoD4 maps though, they're burned into my brain - Downpour and Overgrown especially.

What about 13 year old american kids dressed as ultra-nationalist nazi terrorist zombies - oh the joy of shooting them in the face!

Just for the record I have no underlying physiological problems, but am a well rounded individual.

or maybe stabbing them in the back!

How about spending the time learning, by sending your game developers on a "How to make a SP" game?

Does seem a while until they will release DLC, perhaps they dont want to be seen to be taking advantage.

Played the 1st MW the other day and have to say, its still the better game overall.

Campaign is more interesting and in MP it feels more like everyone is on an even playing field, rather than higher level players with heartbeat sensors and the best perks knowing where you are before you do.

As long as new maps are better than Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Scrapyard, Sub base, Underpass and Wasteland I'm in. For an otherwise excellent game it has a poor collection of multiplayer maps. Some of them are embarrassingly bad and should never have made it into the final game. While they may look good the majority of maps offer boring combat and too much favour snipers or completely elimate a chance for tatics. If this is the best the map makers at Infinity Ward can come up with, then as mentioned by others, I think some of the old maps should be re-released.

...and will contain the remainder of the criminally short single player campaign that was deliberately cut to be sold as DLC?

MW2 needs one more thing, more special ops missions. I feel these were the best thing about the whole game. Allowing you to randomly find a co-op partner would help a lot too.
