Mirror's Edge Time Trial maps out today

Is that it, Faith? No! More!

EA and DICE will finally release the seven new Time Trial maps for Mirror's Edge today.

These will be available on PC and Xbox 360 for 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60), or on PS3 for seven pounds. PS3 owners, remember, have already been treated an extra and free Time Trial map for Mirror's Edge. You lucky devils.

The extra Time Trial maps are a floating clusters of primary-coloured platforms presenting myriad of speedy routes to the end of the level. And, by doing away with the cheesy story and flimsy combat, the pure and athletic joy of Mirror's Edge can flourish.

Head over to Eurogamer TV for a rather lovely look at the new levels.

Mirror's Edge will be turned into a hand-crafted, animated, old-school platform game tomorrow. Fancy Pants creator Brad Borne is behind the project, and his website, which currently displays "Stay Tuned...", is the place to keep an eye on.

    "worst subtitle ever"

I thought it came From Out Of Nowhere.

    Arf!

So don't pay for it then Roz.

It is much more than just seven time trials, they are all very long and offer multiple routes as well as a rather unique area to play the game on - each area is themed for different moves and style of play.

    It's £6.19 on the PSN.

It's not a Games for Windows - Live title, so the PC DLC is via the EA Store where it's £6.99 for the pack. No idea why the price is different from the PS Store.

    "(GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60)"

    Their currency converter is broken.

    @Smuggo

That depends on what you're expecting, its very wipeout zone modey but is excellent if you loved the time trial but sadly loses much of the city top atmosphere of the game level time trials.

I'd consider downloading them if they were free.
  • makeamazing #15 3 years ago

Free maybe, but not charging for some poxy time trials... the original trials werent that much fun.

Don't you think it's about time that sites like Eurogamer moved with the times and actually had some informative opinion annompanying stories like these. We don't just want to know it's out we want to know if it's any good and worth our cash. That's your job to inform us. In the current climate of downloadable content accompanying games it's not enough to just review full priced boxed games in the age old fashion. And it's no good having some kind of round up weeks after the release. We come here to be informed and advised on how best to spend our money and not waste it. Too many news stories in general scream out for more information the minute you read them nowadays, not just here but everywhere. But in everyone's desperation to break something first or bombard us with crap the real issues and content are overlooked or simply not bothered with. A lot of downloadable content is quite expensive nowadays and we need to know in advance if it's worth it.

I downloaded the time trial levels. They're amazing to look at but bloody hard. I can't get to the end of most of them, let alone set a time.

I think it's safe to assume that this download isn't worth 10 euro. EG don't really need to comment on its value. The download obviously only applies to people who own the game and anyone who does, will know instantly that 7 time trials for a tenner is a joke.

Those areas look stunning. I'll be picking this up soon. Don't really mind the cost.

I loved mirror's edge time trials (just got the 50 stars achievement BTW), I downloaded the maps and i think they're absolutely stellar. They force you to think outside of the box, try new techniques, it's a great experience, worth every penny IMO.
