Left 4 Dead 2 campaigns confirmed

Plus Achievements list.

Valve has confirmed that Dead Center and Hard Rain are a pair of campaigns from Left 4 Dead 2 following yesterday's leak.

"They are from the game," marketing director Doug Lombardi confirmed to Eurogamer in an email.

Elsewhere, the game's Achievement list has popped up (thanks Kotaku), also mentioning the campaigns, and offering a glimpse not only of the way Valve plans to keep you coming back, but perhaps also a few unannounced bits and pieces.

These may constitute spoilers for some, so steer clear if you want it all to be a surprise.

For example, there's talk of collecting "vials of Boomer vomit from infected CEDA agents", and a "bile bomb". The two may be linked, although there's no direct word on that.

Valve's whimsical sense of humour is also in evidence, with 60 extra gamerpoints tied up in the Dark Carnival campaign for outwitting "Moustachio" (he's a nut) and rescuing "Gnome Chompski".

    No other game has a better achievement list than L4D. Looks like the list for L4D2 is even better. Looove the Garden Gnome achievement reference from HF2 episode 2. That was an epic achievement. Doing the same thing in L4D2 will be fantastic.

    I am guessing the garden gnome returns here. He probably appears at the start of the campaign and you have to bring him right through to the finale.

    It will be good if you can throw a Bile Bomb at a tank and the Horde attack him for a certain amount of time :)

    It's a very good list of achievements. It's a bit of a shame to not see another Genocidest achievement, but then again grind achievements are generally lame anyway.

    The achievements and their names are brilliant. I particularly like the 'Still Something To Prove', which requires you to complete all campaigns on expert. The exact same achievement in Left 4 Dead 1 was called 'What Are You Trying To Prove?'

    I should carry on reading. This will brighten my day.

    That Hard Rain name reminds me of a movie with Christian Slater and Morgan Freeman.

    Oh, and Yossarian, I highly doubt the gnome will have to be carried through the level(s), seeing as you cannot pick up items in Left 4 Dead 2, and simply stuffing it into your inventory would hardly be challenging.

    He's probably hidden somewhere in the Dark Carnival campaign, and you have to discover him (and possibly repel a trigger horde by pressing 'E' and getting him out of somewhere).

    That's my guess, anyway.
