Insomniac excited about Xbox Live

"That's a very cool opportunity for us."

Insomniac Games' Ted Price has told Eurogamer he is excited about working with Xbox Live for the very first time - it's a platform he's admired from afar.

"Xbox Live is impressive in its breadth and its popularity with users," he told us in an interview published today. "That's a very cool opportunity for us to start taking advantage of."

He did concede, however, that Microsoft's console can be "a little bit louder than PS3".

Insomniac will develop "a brand new universe" for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that will be published by EA. Price revealed that work on the new game began "a while ago".

He went on to say that Insomniac will definitely not be unveiling the game at E3.

Insomniac has an illustrious history as a PlayStation developer, pumping out games in the Ratchet & Clank, Resistance and Spyro franchises. And that long history with Sony won't be thrown away. "We're still as committed as ever to the franchises we're working on with Sony," said Price.

    The noise of the 360 is why i prefer to buy the ps3 version of games.

    Ok, the PS3 is quieter but does the sound of an installed 360 game really bother you? Even if this comment was made in jest (and I think it does), why risk riling the fanboys?

    Both consoles get Insomniac games... end of story, anyone actually bothered?

    I don't think he ment louder litrally.
    I think he is refering to the online user base or I'm just looking into it to much.

    Sheesh!!

    That was a very humorous rubbings in the interview and trying to trip Ted into unusual praisings of rival platform or showing true colour of Playstation flagbearer!

    Ted responses were good, of course he would want to retains strong following but at same time welcoming the new fans, and perhaps only the zealot xbox haters would pick up on those jokes in a very serious way?!

    Chill out! You prefers one over the other, that's cool.

    @ Alivada : Nah, the "joke" was on the loud issue. Insomniac played the Sony PR stunt for quite a while and made some "witty comments" about Xbox. Guess they feel different about that now, so they say yes it is louder but not that much (or they say it a bit quieter, shhhhhh!).

    Please please please please please be a Ratchet & Clank style platformer/adventure game and not an FPS, we have enough FPS games on the 360, other than Kameo I really can't think of any real adventure/platformer retail games (i.e. not XBLA releases).

    I've been crying out for one for a long while, so the news of Insomniac developing for 360 is great.

    Did the interviewer really expect him to say 'Xbox Live is ok I guess, nothing special' ? Agitating the xbox fanboys will do his company no good, and thus this wishy washy answer is all you are going to get. Must be a slow news day for this even to get posted as a story

    No PC game or is EG staff so console focussed that they tend to 'forget' that gaming is very well possible on a PC.

    My new 250GB MW2 360 is quiet, so I'm not sure what model HE IS using.

    My phat 40GB PS3's fan kicks in after playing any game for more than 10mins and that shit is as loud, if not liuder than my 360

    My 2 80 GB japser 360's after installed to HD are now quieter than my PS3 slim (only because of the BD drive)

    Wish we could do full install on PS3 as well, or even install a blu ray to HD so we can watch it at night quietly.
