GTA IV DLC to premiere at VGAs

First footage shown at awards ceremony.

The new downloadable content for Grand Theft Auto IV will premiere at the 2008 Video Game Awards next week.

It's the first time the content will be shown. The VGAs will be broadcast on Spike TV at 9pm Eastern Time, Sunday 14th December.

The Lost and Damned, as the DLC is titled, follows the adventures of biker Johnny Klebitz. It'll be released exclusively via Xbox Live on 17th February.

This year's VGAs will be hosted by Jack Black, and promise to "bring together megastars from the worlds of videogames, Hollywood, music, sports and more". We haven't been invited.

Why would I want to play another 'sandboxer' right now when I have Saint's Row 2? It's the gift that just keeps on giving!

The premiere of Uncharted 2 at the same event is far more exciting.

The premiere of Fight night round 4 at the same event is far more exciting.

Biker? No, thanks. The biking sections in GTA 4 were awful as driving and shooting at the same time was almost completely impossible.

i remember watching the bonus round recently on gametrailers, in which their regular "expert" michael pachter thought MS' strength in numbers online would see them develop a strong exclusive DLC strategy against the opposition, which would be crucial going forward. early this year at e3 jack tretton said he would rather take his exclusive firsty games than MS' exclusive DLC demonstrating sony's belief that exclusive games rather than DLC will be the crucial differentiator for consumers. somethings got to give. personally, i haven't even completed the full game yet so can do without this MS "coup".

it's telling that while Sony will be showing of new games, MS will be demonstrating exclusive DLC. how's that farticus? ;o)

If it brings more people back into multi player I'll be happy. It wasn't very skilful and completely unbalanced, however, I've had more laughs on a Saturday night playing it with 8 friends than any other multi player game!

No thanks. New games for PC, I don't care about GTA4. I might give a try to Saint's Row, as I've heard good things about it. Mirror's Edge

Give it a thick, rich plot (which let's face it they can spend money on! All this is *technically* is a mod to the existing cityscape adding a few new tunes, voiceovers and skins!).

Make it like Full Throttle with some crazy plot-driven potholes and not just a few more levels using a new character. Given the amount of time they've already had to work on this, the delay and crucially the amount of money they've had spent, they should have made something special - with the main game's PC conversion in development alongside it or not.

I'm interested to see if they change little aspects of the city's basic structure (a la "X City Stories";) make existing but non-interactive locations interactive or just go with the lazy option...

If there are new radio stations/tunes/news stories/vehicles/locations do these carry over if you go back to play as Nico again? Questions, questions... Roll on the announcement!

"bring together megastars from the worlds of videogames, Hollywood, music, sports and more"

Wich is exactly the problem. The videogame industrie cannot seem to aknowledge it's own tallent enough (a few exceptions) and has some weird need to legitimize itself by inviting "famouse" people from other entertainment media.

Haven't even bothered finishing GTAIV, don't think I'm gonna pay more for some DLC... Sorry Rockstar, I'm not going to believe the hype this time.
Might be interested in some Fable II DLC and definitely would love some for GOW2 and L4D!
