GSC becomes certified 360 dev
S.T.A.L.K.E.R folks happy.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R studio GSC Game World has become a certified Xbox 360 developer, GamesIndustry.biz reports.
The move allows the company to create titles for multiple platforms, after the successful release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl on PC earlier this year.
"Obtaining such a status for an independent developer based in ex-USSR means a lot - it took us over two years to get," commented Sergiy Grygorovych, CEO of GSC Game World.
"Our old ambition to create multiplatform projects has become a reality."
"Creating games for PC, we achieved practically everything, and now are prepared to garner the top spots in sales charts and gamers' recognition in the world of console games too," he added.

Really, why? More people playing "their" game?

Also there's this gay tendency for games ported to consoles to get "dumbed down", and then, when the next game comes out, it retains the same dumbed down featureset on both the console and the PC.

From a purely selfish perspective, I'd much rather see them developing a new game than making a port. I guess that's what he meant.
Anyway, good news for 360 owners. Stalker is my game of the year, hands down.
Every 360 owner complaining about having to walk around a bit and handle some inventory management, or complaining about shit graphics because the game doesn't pour three layers of shiny effects over everything, but relies on textures and the best lighting in the industry, will be lynched.
edit:
The article doesn't mention they'll port it, but I guess it's rather likely. The rumour has been out for a while.
