Green Day: Rock Band dated
So close to drowning but I don't mind.
MTV and Harmonix have announced that Green Day: Rock Band will be released for PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 worldwide on 8th June.
The game nobody's calling GDRB features 47 tracks, three-part vocal harmonies similar to the Beatles game, and unlockable band-related material including over 40 minutes of video from interviews and performances.
Songs on the soundtrack include "Brain Stew", "Jaded", "Hitchin' A Ride", "American Idiot", "Wake Me Up When September Ends" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". Better have Burnout...
All 47 tracks can be exported to play in Rock Band 1, 2 and the forthcoming third instalment, while the six songs already available as DLC on the Rock Band Music Store will work in GDRB, complete with added vocal harmonies and other exclusive material.

edit: and now I have 'Having A Blast' stuck in my head.
Just please raid Insomniac and Dookie for songs.
And avoid Basked Case.

They're hardly claiming it as being innovative when they clearly say the features are from Beatles Rock Band. RB3 is where all the proper new stuff will makes its debut.

Quality, yes. But Green Day are probably in the top 5 most popular bands in the world at the minute and are one of the biggest touring bands. This game is going to bring in the green (sic) more than the Beatles did.
RB seems to be the hot ticket at the minute anyway. Lady Gaga DLC arrives next week y'know.
Can someone give me a nudge when Rock Band: Faith No More comes out please?
I would do unspeakable things for Angel Dust to be released as DLC. UNSPEAKABLE.

Yeah, but will it be the RB2 method (you buy a key from the marketplace) or the LRB method (you need a unique code)? Because if it's the former, I can just rent the game and save me a lot money.

"Oh, and if you're looking to export these tunes, worry not: all 47 tracks are fully exportable to a console hard drive and playable in Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and the recently announced Rock Band 3. The export fee is $9.99 via Xbox Live or PSN."
OUCH, that's a lot of dough for the export. However:
"A special edition Green Day: Rock Band Plus will also come to Xbox 360 and PS3 for $69.99 and includes fancy packaging, an "export" feature (we assume, a voucher to export the disc tracks to the hard drive) and the six previously released Green Day DLC tracks."
Some pre-orders of the normal version will also bundle the export code for free too.

@wizlon
Good to know about the special edition. I'd have been doing the export anyway, but don't have any of the rest of the DLC so that'll probably be a good deal.

I mean if they don't want the Rock Band name associated with the kind of "stick a suffix on it and ship it out!" shenanigans GH/Acti's been up to they would do much better to actually show they care. Beatles could've had cynics frowning (and some people frowned anyway but they were just normal assholes) but Harmonix convincingly showed that it was very much a thoughtful, thorough, faithful representation of a great band in a great music game.
Seems odd that they wouldn't ensure the same thing with this.

Its developed by Demiurge studios using the RB engine with some co-operation by Harmonix (Audio and note charting). They are doing the same role as Lego RB where the meat of it was by TT Fusion. MTV does own the Rock Band name and they can do what they like with it and if Harmonix doesnt want to play along too much, it's their initiative. Admittedly, it does look "Sell Out"-ish but MTV Games have been bleeding money badly and Harmonix had to let 40 members of staff go before Christmas.
Think of it as the Metal Machine Music of the Rock Band line. Its probably going to be extremely well done and fun to play but its an obvious contractual obligation and will pay for what the company needs for Rock Band 3 and whatever ventures in the future.
