GOW Collection bundled with GOWIII SE

Ultimate Trilogy Edition bound for Europe.

Sony has announced the God of War III Ultimate Trilogy Edition for PS3 in Europe.

It's similar to the American "Ultimate Edition", but better, because it also includes more downloadables and God of War Collection in addition to God of War III and all the other special edition goodies.

God of War Collection, of course, is the excellent high-def Blu-ray revival of the original PS2 God of War games, which received considerable applause on import.

The GOWIII Ultimate Trilogy Edition has yet to be dated or priced, but information should be released "in the next few weeks" according to the official PlayStation blog.

When the bundle does come out it will do so in "limited quantities" for "most European countries, Australia and New Zealand", and at the same time as the standalone God of War III.

As you can see from the pic below, it comes in an extremely fetching sculpted Pandora's Box, inside which lurk the game discs and various goodies: the trilogy soundtrack, a Blood and Metal EP inspired by the series, and loads of download codes.

Those should net you an "Unearthing the Legend" documentary, a Combat Arena (new environment with seven challenges), and Dominus, Apollo, Phantom of Chaos and Forgotten Warrior character skins.

Not content with that, there's an artbook and even some postcards stuffed in the box, so you can write to your friends and tell them how foolish they were not to pre-order.

Why are Sony still so behind the curve with simultaneous regional releases?

It's essentially the yanks version with a few bells and whistles to make it more expensive.

What are you talking about BabyJesus? Sony Europe must think there is more mileage in bundling the first two games in this box and releasing with GoWIII - it's just a business decision.

My only regret is this won't come in normal packaging. If I end up getting this, the oversized box will be straight in the bucket.

Why didn't they release a standalone at the same time as the yanks and offer this £££ SE edition for those who want it?

Another example of this, Demons Soul? Where the hell is the UK release?

It's like the bloody early 90s, waiting months for a release of a game that everyother market has already.

Well that's a very nice idea to bundle the GoW Collection with GoW III, hopefully it'll be priced reasonably too but looking at that beautiful Pandora's Box box (erm...) I'm going to guess at the Ultimate Edition costing in excess of £70 RRP. Lovely box though but I'd just have nowhere to keep it plus I already have the GoW Collection as I imported it.

You can't blame Sony for not releasing Demon Souls as Atlus published US version so a publisher needs to be found for PAL release but then then the multiple languages come into play.

Will the publisher get the money back after translating?

Also Sony may still release collection of GOW by itself

I want all three games but Im not buying that hideous box . Not too fussed about the extra merchandise either. Will we get all three games in normal 2-disc box?

Same here, I wanted a normal box and would have paid an extra 20 odd quid on top of GoWIII to have them. As it is I may as well just import them now.

You'll have trouble fitting that bugger in your DVD rack.

shut up brain! not talking to you today common sense.

    *pre-orders*

Putting all 3 GOW games in a collection makes sense and I'd buy it, but that box is hideous, so for that reason, im out.

Erm, typical! I actually quite fancy this, but they had to announce it just after I imported the collection didn't they!

I really don't get people at times. They moaned that the GOW collection not been announced for Europe, then they moan the SCEA announces a collection set & not Europe and now they're moaning because they have launched a collection set in a box that they don't like the look of.

Tis the season of peace and goodwill, how about laying off the pointless negativity a bit?

That would have made en excellent Xmas present :(

Bundles are good when people want everything that comes in the bundles but when you either A: already have some of the items in the bundle or B: only want some but not all of the items in the bundle then separate releases are needed.

I'm not really that bothered about the collectors box and all the goodies inside but would like the games without the need to import, it's early days and these limited edition packages need advance marketing so I'd suspect we'll be seeing a standalone version announced in the coming weeks.

I'm getting this. If it's cheaper than the MW2 Prestige Edition, I will be happy.
  • hilts #17 2 years ago

This makes me less convinced the collection will be released separately - glad I imported it!
  • callum9999 #18 2 years ago

I'd rather just buy the games instead of paying extra for pointless accessories. I just want to play the game, not get a special box and a soundtrack CD.
  • Razorus #19 2 years ago

It's a great deal for me, but I hope it doesn't have a ridiculous price.
  • Killerbee #20 2 years ago

Nice box, but er... no I think I'll just go for the standard edition - at least it'll fit on my games shelf!

As for Demon's Souls, whilst I completely agree it deserves a European release, honestly, importing the US version is the easiest thing in the world - just do it. It's a stunning game and you should be playing it now!
  • bmxbandit #21 2 years ago

Without insulting any of you fine chaps, you do realise the PS3 has been import friendly since launch the GOW collection will work on your PAL console, will no worries?

This isnt the xbox you silly buggers, get with the times ... get with the facts.

If you want Demons Souls or GOW, just turn to ebay or your local importer. End of. It's already there for you.

I would pay £80 for this. 1 new game, the collection, and a little bit more for the useless tat. But no more than that.
