Gory WiiWare game Last Flight outed News

Wii News by Robert Purchese

8 October, 2009

Polish developer Bloober Team has unveiled gory WiiWare horror game Last Flight, which will be out later this year at an "affordable and competitive" price, the developer told us.

Last Flight, an action adventure, takes a hefty dose of inspiration from games like Golden Axe, a scrolling and hack-and-slash with simple controls.

The story follows fat food critic Larry who finds himself in the unenviable position of stopping a vampire invasion, using cleavers and what-not to chop the baddies into bite-sized chunks. You do this by waving the Wiimote and nunchuk around.

Last Flight is aimed at core gamers - an audience Bloober admits is found more easily on PS3 and 360, but one the developer feels is lurking on Wii, ready for a game that suits.

Last Flight will be released in four episodes. Each, we're told, will rival a boxed game for "look and feel".

We've popped a bunch of screenshots in our Last Flight gallery for you to look at.

'Last Flight is aimed at core gamers'
Why is it that 'core gamers' are always associated with violence and gore?

Anyway, looks nice...although it'll be useless without a co-op mode

Hardcore used to mean those who are interested in games at their purest, Hi-Score junkies and speed runners...

These days it seems to mean anyone who has played an FPS and has access to a message board to spout their redundant opinion on.

Tough times.

To be fair, Dead Rising and such basically are 3D versions of Golden Axe. All that's needed is the ability to ride stuff.

I was wondering what happened to this. The first screens were shown off about 18 months ago. One of the first Wiiware games shown from what I remember. Looks much improved anyway.

Hopefully the episodes will be a decent length.

Which, somewhat ironically, is what the Wii excels at. Try telling that to a 19yr old EG'er though and see where that gets you.

Yeah, Hardcore gamers are FPS PC gamers. I think if you have to refer to the type you are are talking about by saying something other than game enthusiast or gamer, I would call them Oldskool. Well at least that's the way I see it.
