I've never met a single person who'd played this game. Which is weird for a FF-anything. Did XI ever take off?

yeah its popular, wouldnt have so many expansions if it didnt take off.

an ultimate bundle is great but not sure if its worth people starting the game now when ff 14 is around the corner. supposedly around the corner anyhow

Indeed Carrot. With Square churning out FFXIV news, how are people going to get the most out of this VERY demanding title before FFXIV is released?

I played it for the first year or so and found it to be an excellent MMO at the time, then WoW came out :p

It was very grind intensive but the combat and character levelling system was very good. Timing attacks with other players to launch special attacks and such was very satisfying. I'd probably have picked it up again if they hadn't deleted my character when I left for a few months.

One of the things that spoiled it for me at the time was the camping of rare mobs for special drops, nearly always by some bloody golder seller!

I seem to remember the community being very friendly. Probably didn't hurt that I started my own shell (guild) so was able to eject the occasional bell-end that invariably turned up lol. Overall though a lot of fun.

Sounds cool, but I really don't see the point in buying something I've already played... even if it has been made a bit snazzier

Really missing a trick by not providing a Playstation 3 port but there isn't much logic in releasing this so late in the day either.
