FES edition of Persona 3 in October

Standalone add-on with lots more content.

Koei plans to offer the extended and standalone FES edition of Persona 3 here on 17th October.

This adds around 30 hours of extra content to the acclaimed PS2 role-playing game. Expect a whole new chapter, more Personas, cut-scenes, quests, some sort of weapon creation tool, a hard difficulty mode and the ability option to change your clothes. How thoughtful.

Saved games from Persona 3 will work in the FES edition, but there's no requirement to finish the original story before you're allowed access to the new bits.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 came out earlier this year and was hailed as one of the finest RPGs on the PS2, of which there are about a million.

Pop over to our Persona 3 review to find out more.

Alternatively, look in our Persona 3 FES gallery for an idea of what to expect.

I'm pleased to hear this, but its a hell of a long wait. I think it got released in the U.S around April!
• legendmir #3 4 years ago

its a good game but i got sick of having to start over again after being killed by those bloody instant kill spells :(
• Steroyd #4 4 years ago

YES!

I was saving my spare pennies for Persona 3, but i'll wait for this to come out instead. :D
Wasn't sure this would get released in Europe so i'm happy.
• Fernando #5 4 years ago

wow i honestly didnt think they'd both to bring here, props to Koei

Please add a 60hz option Koei.
• Zanuah #9 4 years ago

Bah I got the US version in april (after already playing the original for a while), and haven't played it since. :p

Oh well good to hear the EU will be able to enjoy this game.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS, Praise Nyx!
Persona 3, for me, surpassed FF7 as the best JRPG ever made; I truly found it THAT damn good.

All you fans should check out Persona: Trinity Soul. It's an anime series set 10 years after Persona 3. It's dark, sombre and slow-burning, so quite different in tone to the game, but is still excellent. Plus Akihiko turns up and kicks ass without actually doing anything, so watch it just for him.

Oh and Persona 3 had a 60hz option, dont see why this won't.
• Colin8703 #11 4 years ago

@ Zanuah.

Wanna sell it?
• Chrono-Kun #12 4 years ago

FUCKING YESS FUCKING YESS FUCKING YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still haven't completed Persona 3, but I'm completely overjoyed that Koei is releasing it here. I am so happeh =D *pins it down for October*

And I agree with you, Setaro. FF7 is inferior to Persona 3. The characters in Persona 3 and a original concept make it worthwhile for me.

I can't wait for Persona 4 to hit here (... in that case, I'll import it since I won't be patient enough xD)
• penhalion #13 4 years ago

yay....if you have a backward compatible PS3 or an old PS2 still connected to some kind of viewer screen ;)

Edit: By the way, is there any word on Persona 4?

Didn't think it would ever come here, but I'm still not done with P3...

Still, 30 extra hours? Thats more than some full games offer these days. Might be worth it.
• NegativeZero #15 4 years ago

So is it the same as the US release? Complete original Persona 3 with extra stuff added and things streamlined, plus the extra story? I've had the US release since it came out but haven't really gotten around to playing much of it. What I did play was very good though. Glad to see that it's getting a PAL release.
• JediMasterMalik #16 4 years ago

Fantastic, was hoping this would come to us, definitely getting it after the hype.

Now if they are going to release 4 I may not need an NTSC PS2!
• DanForinton #21 4 years ago

Wow. Didn't expect this to see the light of day over here. I'll be having some of that. Now all I need to make me happy is for them to bring P4 over as well. And I don't care if I have to wait til next year (obviously sooner would be better, if there's anyone from Koei reading!)
• Asundai #22 4 years ago

It's a shame they take so damn long, because i've already imported it from the US and i'm sure i'm not alone on that one - which leads to less sales when it does come out over here and makes it look like we don't want it so much. Oh well.
• Feanor #23 4 years ago

The Answer is really more like 40 hours. Well worth buying even if you don't touch the main story again.
• Steroyd #24 4 years ago

Some of these posts makes me want to get Persona 3 NOW!!! STOP SAYING HOW AWESOME IT IS!!! >_
• XENgamer #25 4 years ago

Yay!
With this news surely Persona 4 can't be far behind!!
• TheBlueShmoo #26 4 years ago

"I don't know you, but your fes looks familiar."
• GalacticDonut #27 4 years ago

Wow, I never expected this to get an EU release. I imported the US version to play through The Answer but it'll be nice to use my saves from regular P3 on another playthrough.
Here's hoping Koei follow Atlus' lead and sell it at a reduced price too, though it's probably unlikely.

Didnt get on with P3 at all, I liked the overworld/dating sim aspect but the actual dungeon running I felt was incredibly dull. Still, good news for the fans and a nice move by Koei to release this here :)

PS2 looks alright on my HDTV, i just set it to 4:3 mode. There's borders but its a lot better than a stretched image... and the picture quality doesn't look any worse than it ever did on older TVs either. Probably better.
• Slipstream #31 4 years ago

Huh? I read this somewhere about a month ago, but whatever, this is still wonderful news. Persona 3 has already become a difficult game to get in my area, but I own the original and will be owning the FES edition too! Can't wait ^^
• saku_luk #32 4 years ago

Those are great news for gamers that dont have modded PS2 or NTSC ones and cant import, this series is just to great for ppl to miss, and its a pity most of the PAL gamers didnt get to play P1 and P2 on PSX.

At least 1 company in PALand cares for hardcore gamers since Persona games arent for normal gamers, all we get in Europe are easy as pie FF games or other easy games you can beat under 40h.

I already said that on KOEI boards and i think everyone who didnt already and is looking forward to this game in PAL should go there and thank KOEI for the release. I played the game already since I imported but i got stuck during replaying The Journey, Guess Ill go back to my PAL copy of P3 and prepare a save so I can start P3FES Journey again :) It is a really good time, I can replay FES again 20+ days before I get my US copy of P4. This will be great end of the year.....hehe not to mention i got birthday 2 days after P3FES PAL release :p

BTW P3 PAL didnt have 60hz mode, only 50hz, hope PAL FES will come with 60hz, if not ill buy it to support KOEI and play on my US copy again :>
• Asundai #33 4 years ago

Don't need mods to play the import, you can just use http://www.swapmagic3.com/

I use the memory card hack to load games onto a hard drive for faster loading and region free (i buy them first though).

You can make your PS2 look a little better with a component cable btw
(you can get one at http://www.thegametrain. com/)

• Agent_Llama #35 4 years ago

Awesome - held out getting this in the hope they'd release the extended edition. :oD

Got the import. Awesome game. More people should know about it.

I already bought the USA version after felling ripped off by koei, releasing a normal version with no extras at all the same time that a version with extra content for half European retail price was too much for me. The no inclusion of the sound track or at least some localization was the definitive coup de grace for me.
